  1. 1. SHOULD the Bills Pick up Dalton Kincaid’s 5th Year Option?

    • Yes, no matter what. Pick up year 5 only.
    • It depends on how the rest of year plays out.
    • Sign him to a multi-year extension on the cheap.
    • No, no matter what. Let him walk.

We should let him walk, pick up the 300 lb TE from the Steelers, and cut Shakir, Palmer, Cooks, and any other pass catcher with a hint of talent and replace them with big, slow guys who can block. Only then will our transformation be complete and McD’s complementary football vision/Josh Allen’s 9th circle of hell be realized.

None of the above.

Id trade him.

Yes I love these posts! What a great idea! He’s hurt and I’m mad at him so let’s trade him when his value is at its lowest!

How would you like to be Jahmyr Gibbs agent, $11M fifth year option for someone who is already 1,000 yard rusher 13 TD's.

This league really devalues running backs.

Obviously can’t trade him right now so I’m not sure what you’re going on about.

This is now two years of this.

We can’t keep building this team around injury prone players.

See what the market is for him come FA and towards the Draft.

Build this team like it should around JA, with a strong OL and good WR’s.  A restructured Knox and more experienced Hawes is plenty good enough.

That wanted him as a TE for mismatches and to be multiple, except he’s clearly a big slot.  It’s almost a dead giveaway we’re passing when he’s on the field.  Nothing about his usage says “multiple”.   He’s just a big WR who’s always hurt, so focus on getting Josh actual WR’s this off-season and get what you can for Kincaid.

I would also strongly endorse Hawes being part of the receiver crew at Josh's QB summer workouts.

100% Beane picks up the option. I think he should, 8-9 mil for a year isn’t bad. Give him 2 years to see if he can change the narrative. He wasn’t injury prone at Utah, and Josh really did him dirty with that horrific pass when Kincaid was wide open that blew up his right knee. That was a career altering for Kincaid. The guy has elite skills when he can stay healthy (not saying he’s an elite player). If he can get himself off the All Glass team, maybe he reaches his potential.

8m is a reasonable salary for a young TE that has flashed and still has lots of upside. If we can extend him a few more years at or just below that rate it's a win. If he was our 4th or 5th option pass catcher that may be something different, but we're not in the position to be letting talented young guys with upside walk, just because they have not lived up to their draft position.

He's missed games, played hurt and yet still is tied for the lead in receiving TDs, 2nd in receiving yards and third in receptions.

His success rate and catch percentage is very high, seems like a no brainer.

Hopefully he can get healthy and stay that way, if that happens, expect a long term deal to follow.

The Bills have a lot of receiver problems, this isn't at the top of the list

Sorry I’m confused-you want them to pick up the 5th year, but if he misses more games because of injury you him gone after next year? That’s not how it works

I was having a brain fart. For some reason I had this year as his 4th.

Nothing to see here...carry on...

Not reliable enough to keep him.  Get Hawes more involved in passing game and use Anderson or another blocking TE .

Like Kincaid, wanted the Bills to draft him. Shows potential. But he gets hurt too often & is too underused to get big money IMO. We pay too many guys who underperform. Let's see how the season plays out.

It's funny that you came up with this post because I have been thinking along the same lines about resigning him .

IMHO he is a china doll, a very good player when he is healthy but that is the problem to this point in his career he has missed I believe I have read 1/3 of the games that have been played since he has been here and this coaching staff and many others say the best ability is availability .

No matter how good you are if your not available to play your talents are a loss ! If Bruce wasn't on the field he would never have been the HOF Bruce that we know & it's the same with most any of the other players of the HOF Dan that the Bills have had in the past .

I was thinking they may use him to trade for 1 of 2 things either a better draft selection to move up and get a player that would have a better future from the draft or use to trade him for a player that has already made some waves and is on the rise that would better fit the Bills in what ever position that might be .

But if they did that the haters would be out in full force waving the fire Beane flags you can bet . But although a talented player he didn't bulk up much with a full off season and he just can't stay healthy then when he is on the field it seems that they focus more on using him and not using the likes of Knox or now Hawes which showed last week that if implemented in the scheme more the too are weapons .

Since Kincaid was drafted Knox which got paid because he showed his worth both as a blocker and a pass catcher that Josh could depend on gets pushed to the side and under utilized and the balance that could be isn't there if both players were used to their strengths in the pass game instead of focusing much more on 1 than the other .

And that isn't realized until Kincaid is hurt .

What would be your anticipated returns on this?

He has one cheap year and then the 5th year option for the team that trades for him.  So two cost controlled years.

Id ask for a 2, but realistically would take a 3rd.

We could also use him on draft day for a trade up.

Anything less and I would keep him and hope he figures out a way to stay healthy.. and yes, pick up the option, because if he can, that’s cheap.  If he can’t, oh well, we’ve wasted cap on dumber things.

I am disappointed /pizzed he didn’t and hasn’t bothered getting stronger, which we’ve called for from his rookie season. Has the need not been proven? This question has me wondering WTH?

I think he has, his body just isn’t built for it.

You can see he’s got more muscle this year, but in terms of a TE, he just doesn’t have the body structure of Knox or Hawes.
