Uncle Monkeyhead Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago Buzz in the media? I just watch the games. He's not an allusion. Very good QB play, not the best, but damn good for the NFL Quote

He also has the advantage of working with a good veteran OC who has enough pieces around him. Decent OL, two canny vet WR and a solid TE. A lot of reliance on the run game in terms of attempts, if not in terms of yards. And, the Patriots have a solid D. Vrabel may be a meathead, but he's a very good coach and traditionally gets the best out of his teams. There's a long history of players who look amazing and for one or another reason don't last. I remember when we were hearing "show me another QB who is playing better than Mac Jones right now". Belichick ruined him with his Matt Patricia experiment, but I digress. "He's better than Josh already right now" is hyperbole. There's a Josh McDaniel cycle just like there's a Ryan Fitzpatrick cycle: 1) look great as Patriots OC 2) get hired as HC 3) fail 4) rehired as Patriots OC, look great McDaniel has an ego. We'll see how long he works great with Meathead. I think 5-7 years is a stretch. i don't know if mcdaniel will ever be a head coach again. he's running out of landing spots in a way. two failed gigs. plus, didn't he reneg on the colts or something like that? 3 or more chances isn't likely the norm. I'm guessing he doesn't have the best reputation in the world. He's probably a guy who is (and should be) a lifetime O.C. Edited 29 minutes ago by dcinmuncie Quote
billsfan89 Posted 18 minutes ago Posted 18 minutes ago Maye is good but I do want to see him do it against better defenses. We've seen guys burst out in year 1 or 2 in recent years and comeback down to Earth. CJ Stroud set the rookie record book ablaze in 2023 and he's not been bad but he's regressed a bit in years 2-3. Jayden Daniels this year same thing. Bo Nix has also regressed from a strong rookie year. Credit to the Pats for winning on their schedule but there's a long way to go for Maye. Quote

He has done it against good Defenses. Cleveland he sliced and diced and got hammered by Garrett for 5 sacks in that game.. The Bills do have a good D and he played well against the. The first time.. Tampa D isn’t bad and he lit them up.. Again this year the AFC is just weird with most teams struggling or just outright bad. Quote

Bruffalo Posted 3 minutes ago Posted 3 minutes ago Isn't this just following the exact same script as the Titans with Vrabel in the Tannehill era? Regular season darlings, winning games with above average QB play (nothing gaudy numbers wise but solid regardless) and a stout defense, squeaking out some wins they probably didn't have any business getting. Then they get bounced early in the playoffs. Vrabel's done that like 3-4 times already. I need to see more before I believe it's legitimate like the record says it is. Maye is probably a top 12 QB though. Probably somewhere near Herbert. Anyone who puts him above Allen, Mahomes, or Jackson is crazy though. Quote
Bill51390 Posted 3 minutes ago Posted 3 minutes ago Maye is legit, you could see it coming last season. But I don’t think they are as good as their record shows this season. Hopefully the Patriots rising will wake Beane up and realize we can’t coast to a division championship every year. Maybe this will make us better in the long run. Quote
Einstein Posted 2 minutes ago Posted 2 minutes ago The best thing the Patriots did (and this goes for Maye too) is hire Vrabel. The guy is a great coach and his players play HARD for him. They were ready to run through a wall last night. And Jackson dart felt it. 1 Quote

There is no reasonable argument one could make RIGHT NOW that he isn’t better than Josh. What am I missing? Doesnt mean he has better resume. Doesn’t mean he will have better career. It means he is better then Josh this season so far. Although you’ve touched on the point of resume, your take doesn’t really give enough weight to the context of their respective careers. Perhaps Maye’s performance looks better now, but this is typical of players having their breakout seasons. Josh Allen’s highlights from the 2020 season are insane, and it’s the season in which he had his most passing touchdowns and total touchdowns in a season. Patrick mahomes had 52 total tds in his second season, which he hasn’t really gotten close to since. Lamar had 43 his second season, which he only topped once (last year). Hell, I remember Carson Wentz looking like a future hall of farmer in his second season. Maye is looking great this year, but he doesn’t have years of having to adjust to defenses that have figured out his (and his OCs) tendencies, of playing against division rivals 10+ times, of having to push through the inevitable lulls of a NFL career. It’s not taking anything away from Maye, but takes like this completely disregard the context necessary to determine a qb’s performance.. And none of this even touches on the fact that in 3 of the 4 Bills games that were lost, they looked like a steaming pile of dog poop, top to bottom. All factors considered, I’d take Josh all day, this season or any other. Quote

Is this kid legit — like, “future superstar, could end up in that Mahomes/Allen/Lamar neighborhood” legit — or are we looking at another guy the media is hyping up way too early, like what happened with Lawrence, Purdy, Stroud, or Love? ’Cause man… I’m starting to see a lot of buzz out there, everyone’s getting fired up about him. But what do you think? Is he actually special, or are we gonna find out pretty soon that he’s not all that? He is legit, I know some Bills fans live in denial, but NE has turned the corner and have a good QB Quote

They are playing hard and for the most part they aren’t barely beating most of the teams they should beat they are dominating them.. been few games in this stretch I was worried they may lose outside of Cincy.
