So what do you guys really think about Drake Maye right now? Is this kid legit — like, “future superstar, could end up in that Mahomes/Allen/Lamar neighborhood” legit — or are we looking at another guy the media is hyping up way too early, like what happened with Lawrence, Purdy, Stroud, or Love?

’Cause man… I’m starting to see a lot of buzz out there, everyone’s getting fired up about him. But what do you think? Is he actually special, or are we gonna find out pretty soon that he’s not all that?

Maye was the only player coming out of the draft that i never wanted to see in the AFCEast..........the kids legit.

We are going to have years of problems with the Pats (we've seen this story before)

UGH

He is better than Josh right now, already.  He also likely has his elite OC for next 5-7 years locked up.

Baring injury he will be in the top QB in league category for next decade.

This is a point most miss.  His OC is a major, not only, reason he is looking so good.

Don’t believe any of them were leading the league statistically and were 11-2 in their 2nd season. The hype is valid.

He looks very legit. I don’t love him in the division.

But we also saw this play out before. New OC and young talented QB have been crowned prematurely.

CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels both exploded on the scene and looked every bit as good as Drake has this year.

Good kid, amazing talent, and comes from a great sports family especially in North Carolina circles. Aside from being on the Pats he’s hard to root against as a person and player.

Have you watched him throw a long ball? I mean... it's a thing of beauty! That Tuddie pass last night in the first Quarter was a dime that floated like a golden goose carrying $500 million straight into the bread basket. He throws a pretty ball to all spots - something Josh had to work towards and still can't achieve. (the long ball from Josh is pretty bad...)

I hope we beat them in 2 weeks!!

Tom Brady cloned him,  just like his dog.

His accuracy and ball placement reminds me of Brady, as he leads the league in completion percentage…

The Bills are screwed, and I’m not joking…

While Josh continues to lose a step, with his legs, and the Bills start to fade (a la Marino in the 90s) the Pats are on the path to dominance…

Patriots fan, are you?

Give Maye his propers.  He's leading the league in like - everything right now.

He also has the advantage of working with a good veteran OC who has enough pieces around him.  Decent OL, two canny vet WR and a solid TE.  A lot of reliance on the run game in terms of attempts, if not in terms of yards.  And, the Patriots have a solid D.  Vrabel may be a meathead, but he's a very good coach and traditionally gets the best out of his teams.

There's a long history of players who look amazing and for one or another reason don't last.  I remember when we were hearing "show me another QB who is playing better than Mac Jones right now".  Belichick ruined him with his Matt Patricia experiment, but I digress.

"He's better than Josh already right now" is hyperbole.

There's a Josh McDaniel cycle just like there's a Ryan Fitzpatrick cycle:
1) look great as Patriots OC
2) get hired as HC
3) fail
4) rehired as Patriots OC, look great
McDaniel has an ego.  We'll see how long he works great with Meathead.  I think 5-7 years is a stretch.

Jayden Daniels was awesome last year.

Mac Jones was the next Brady.

He's having a good year where literally everything is going right for that team.  Most importantly the schedule.  And their defense wins them games.

He hasn’t thrown for 300.  I’m told that’s a red flag.  He hasn’t had to come back in any game.

That is all.

I texted my buddy last night after Maye dropped another Patriot missile that right now, Maye > Allen, but I’ll give Allen a mulligan for being saddled with lack of talent at the receiver position

Quick - besides Diggs and the occasionally splash player in Hollins, how many of Maye's receivers are household names?

He is benefitting from his OC and no doubt is quite good. But it's a ways to go before comparing him to the top 3 of the league
