There is no reasonable argument one could make RIGHT NOW that he isn’t better than Josh. What am I missing? Doesnt mean he has better resume. Doesn’t mean he will have better career. It means he is better then Josh this season so far. You could say that Maye currently (in the 2025 season) has better stats than Josh, but that is a much different thing than saying that Maye is currently a better quarterback overall (if that is what you meant). I mean, honestly, if you had to choose a quarterback for your team for the playoffs right now, are you really picking Maye over Josh? (We haven't even seen Maye in a playoff game yet to have any reference.) In a redraft, at this precise moment, are you drafting Maye ahead of Allen? Don't get me wrong, the kid is very good, but to say a second-year player is already better than an elite, 9-year vet, MVP quarterback seems not only premature, but a bit crazy. But let's look at their current overall stats anyhow. Current stats (2025 season): Maye: 3,731 scrimmage yards, 25 TDs, 6 INTs, 71.5% completions, 0 4th-quarter comebacks, 1 game-winning drive. QB rate: 111.9 Allen: 3,241 scrimmage yards, 30 TDs, 10 INTs, 69.1% completion, 2 4th-quarter comebacks, 3 game-winning drives. QB rate: 99.8. Also, Maye has played one more game than Josh at the moment. Josh's current game averages for 2025 are 270 scrimmage yards and 2.5 TDs. So, if we add one more game for Josh at his average, we get: 3,511 scrimmage yards, 33 TDs. Still 220 yards less than Maye (about 17 yards less per game), but with 8 more TDs (about .62 more TDs per game than Maye). And if you are taking team record into account, well, if we win while the Pats are on BYE (at home vs. Cincy) and then beat the Pats in the rematch, we are only one game behind them (with three games to go). I do think Maye is a very good Qb and we will be contending with him and the Pats for the next few years at least, but in no way is he currently a better QB than Allen. He may have better stats at the moment (for this year), but a second-year guy still has a lot to learn, a lot of things he hasn't seen yet, etc., etc. 1 Quote

Then again none of the AFC teams do, so who knows. Usually a championship roster has a difference maker on the DL and a difference maker in the WR room. I don't think New England has either of those. It's a good WR room. It's a good OL (when healthy). Excellent CBs but that's their only position group I would put in the upper echelon of the NFL. The rest of their roster I would put in an average or lower tier. Maye's play and elite level coaching is why they've ripped off 10 wins in a row. With that win streak Vrabel did in year one what McDermott hasn't done in his entire tenure. It is not a 10 win in a row type of roster, I'm confident saying we've had multiple better rosters than that since 2020. The coaching is the biggest difference from last year to this year. Quote

With the way the AFC is so wide open.. realistically anybody can do it .. no team is Head and shoulders better in the AFC or NFC than anybody.. even Los Angeles and Philadelphia have their own issues If the Patriots had Josh Allen I would say they would 100% be Super bowl favorites so I think the roster is good enough to win with the top-tier quarterback I would not say they are Super bowl favorites this year with the second year Drake May who has never been in the playoffs yet.. If we flip-flopped Allen for Drake Maye.. Patriots are still 11 and 2 if not better and the Buffalo Bills are not 8-5 imo It's not like if we had Drake Maye the bills are 11 and 2... We have 9 years of McDermott on tape.. there's less than 13 games of this Patriots team of tape.. sometimes it takes a little bit for NFL defenses to understand how to attack a new upstart offense that's playing well There in a stage where the league has not caught up yet but they always do eventually Edited 8 minutes ago by Buffalo716 Quote

Better than just about anyone at QB. An argument can be made foe Stafford, but who else has an argument? Edited 11 minutes ago by tigerthelion Quote

I think next year, teams will have caught up to Maye and his OC schemes, but as it sits right now, the rest of the league is just trying to keep pace, without much success, i might add. I’m a Carolina grad and Maye disappointed me his last season. They got a signature win against Miami and then shat themselves, and Maye did not put the team on his back. He’s a good QB and he’s in a great situation right now, but from what I’ve seen when adversity strikes he hasn’t delivered. Basically everything has gone right for the Pats*** this season. I’m reserving judgment. Quote

Because until this all happened people and the talking heads were saying how the pats needed a true WR1 and how the WR room was one of the worst in the NFL and Diggs was a shadow of his former self. I thought the Bills WR were considered at least average aren’t they? I think the pats had a better draft class this year than the Bills with 6 to 7 making contributions regularly (or outright starters) and Williams starting to click with Maye as a WR.. Diggs would be the best receiver on thw Bills by a good margin. Quote
BigAl2526 Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago Not sure what the significance is, but Maye's first name means a male duck. Quote
White Linen Posted 5 minutes ago Posted 5 minutes ago We know the family decently well and some of our other friends and family know them very well. They are a fantastic family with a long reputation in the Charlotte NC area. More specifically Huntersville/Lake Norman. They all have work ethic and money isn't the motivation. They're competitors. The entire family is well accomplished in sports and they're all huge people. Working hard won't be his problem. He'll put in the hours. That doesn't always translate but it's usually a common thread among the QB's that make it. Of course this league is brutal but I'd lean towards this kid having a chance of being really good. Quote
Scott7975 Posted 3 minutes ago Posted 3 minutes ago The kid is legit. He has some elite skills. Whether he ends up in Josh/Mahommie territory, I think it's too early to say. We will get a better picture next season when he plays first place schedule and teams have more film on him. Quote
