I bet college football has seen a real reduction in concussions and head/neck injury's as a result of this rule.

I doubt it. Defenders aren't ever doing it on purpose these days anyway.

what’s depressing is Maye’s accuracy and reads.  That won’t fade when he’s in his 30’s and standing in the pocket. The kid makes more long throws in one drive than some other teams attempt over a few games.  Doesn’t mean they will win a SB. It’s still a team game

His deep accuracy IMO is one of the bests I have seen in a long time..  he is the Pats O He makes it good without him it’s hot garbage

But I've seen that called regularly.  If he hit him with a shoulder, that's different.  If that's the rule, plaintiffs' lawyers will have lots of fun if intentional or reckless head-to-head contact is just fine.

I’m no rule expert but I don’t believe they have targeting in the NFL. I believe you’re confusing it with head hunting against a defenseless receiver. That wasn’t the case there. He is considered a ball carrier there.

New England is clearly the best team in the AFC and possibly the league. They are going to be the #1 seed. What an absolute nightmare.

I watch a lot of college football and when they first adopted the rule you had a load of targeting penalty's because players were still leading with their helmets like it was a missile.  But over the years those kinds of tackles have been reduced dramatically.  Now you see payers using the shoulder aimed at the center of body mass. For me it has been a welcome and very visible improvement in the college game.

For what it's worth I asked AI abut the college targeting rule and injury's:

Yes, college football targeting rules have helped reduce injuries, particularly concussions, though the data is not definitive and some studies show a higher risk of concussion on plays where targeting is called. Studies indicate that since the rule's implementation, there has been a decrease in concussion rates, especially in high schools. While the rule is intended to protect players, some research suggests that the plays most frequently called for targeting are also more likely to result in a concussion, which may indicate the rule is identifying dangerous situations rather than preventing them entirely.

Theyve mentioned the Carter being out and don’t know “why” like 4 or 5 times. Never heard it covered so much if it’s unknown lol

So much has gone wrong for the Giants, I’m not really sure you can read much from this game.

- Punt return TD

- Kick into the dirt, would have made it a one score game

- Punt return fumble with a player KO’d on his feet

- Personal foul on o-lineman standing up for his QB killing a drive

Just a bunch of weird stuff, all going the Pats way. Even a team with average coaching/discipline won’t have this stuff happen.

Seems unnecessary to go public with the Carter specifics and embarrass the player.

Yeah, that's why I am seriously having doubts about whether that tweet is legit or not.

If it is, whoever leaked that deserves a Josh Allen knee to the "stomach"

In just his second year in the league, Maye took a team that was inches away from the first overall pick in the draft, to the best record in the league.  And he’s hardly got an all-star cast around him…

They're still out first playoff game.

It is just amazing how everything keeps falling the Pats way this year. The only potentially saving grace is that it is unlikely for the stars to align the same way again with injuries (their lack of injuries and the timing of opponents’ injuries) and lucky bounces in games. I worry that they are set up well for a Super Bowl run this season though as things stand…

It's falling their way until it isn't.  IMO the Pats have the look of a team that gets the #1 seed and then loses at home in their 1st playoff game.  Sort of like the Ravens did twice.

I would agree.  However their schedule has been pretty easy.  The AFC is pretty open thus year and they may have just enough to be the best team.  Denver looks like the next beat team and thats not saying a whole lot.  Rams vs patriots?

For sure. That’s why I’m amazed they keep bringing it up.
