Just wait until next year when the Patriots buy some really good players with their $54m in cap space.  This is the lousiest Patriots “good” team  they’ll have for a while.  But it is the easiest schedule.

Did that league propagandist say helmet to helmet is OK because the returner was a runner?  WTF does that mean?  Do they make this stuff up as they go along?

Fixed.

Def wasn’t quick kick right after

They don’t allow for the next play until they do the review. It was a touchdown.

The official NFL Twitter account still hasn't posted a replay of that fumble, which tells you everything you need to know. I'm shocked they didn't call a penalty there. Even if it wasn't intentional they are always calling that.

Last night we watched a Bronco deliberately use a leg whip to make a "tackle" and the refs missed the obvious penalty but the eye in the sky made sure the refs moved the ball back to the spot of the leg whip.

We are witnessing a combination of incompetence and/or corruption in the officiating of these games.  The NFL better get ahead of this.

I said they were a good team.. I agree with you

I know. I was alluding more to the “easiest schedule” part. Aside from the opening week blip against the Raiders, they’ve proven to be one of the top AFC teams.

So helmet to helmet isn’t a penalty because he was a runner? Is that the dumb s h t they are trying to convince me?

Do you really want the league to start calling a 15 yrd penalty every time there's helmet contact on a ballcarrier?

And Ellis just did another cheap shot helmet to helmet.  Interesting that this is not a penalty in the NFL but in college it is targeting.  There is no way deliberately leading with your helmet to the head of an opposing player should be legal at any level of football.

Couple cheap Shots for sure by the pats tonight.

I just don't think that one on dart was, and I doubt the league will fine him for that one .

We will see I guess

Not saying they’ll be the same in the playoffs but the mark of a good team and one who is well coached is that they win games. And the lesser opponents, they beat handily.

They should’ve lost to the Bengals with an injured Flacco, no Burrow and half of Higgins before he got concussed.

I feel like some of you are reading way too much into this game.

I think they’re very good, but I also would be suprised if they make the AFC CG, with or without a bye.

At that point it doesn't matter because he is in bounds and a runner, not a defenseless player.

I will believe you and others when someone nails Mahomes just like that and the flag stays in the refs pocket.  Until then quoting the rules is a waste of time when they are enforced haphazardly and on a case by case basis.

So they can do that but they can’t call down and throw a flag for the late dirty hit in yesterday’s game.

Make it make sense.

what in the holy hell gaslight ??

Depends on intent which is subjective.  You usually see that called though.

It is just amazing how everything keeps falling the Pats way this year. The only potentially saving grace is that it is unlikely for the stars to align the same way again with injuries (their lack of injuries and the timing of opponents’ injuries) and lucky bounces in games. I worry that they are set up well for a Super Bowl run this season though as things stand…

I think defenders are being taught to make contact but also follow through with a leg whip to finish. I saw an Italian player do it in the Steelers game yesterday.

There has to be a different standard for a kick returner or an open-field tackle.  That’s not a scrum type of situation.

there's a distinction between the helmet contact which happens on every play versus using your helmet as a weapon in my eyes

I don't think the NFL has a targeting penalty on ball carriers like college

It would help if the NFL explicitly told us what the eye in the sky is used for.  It seems to change based on the circumstances of the situation.

If Mahomes is running he is no longer a defenseless player and he is no longer afforded any extra protection like he would have in the pocket.
