SCBills Posted December 1 Posted December 1 (edited) It’s obviously skewed, but we do actually cover well on the back end with our revamped secondary. We’ll know for sure whether it’s for real, a mirage or something in between on Sunday around 4 pm. Edited December 1 by SCBills 2 Quote

The Bills are 6th in team defense in the passing game: https://www.nfl.com/stats/team-stats/defense/passing/2025/reg/all. Sort by passer rating. Passer rating differential is the most predictive of all NFL stats in determining winning and losing. Here is the top 10: The Bills team passer rating on offense is 99.5, and the +18.6 differential is reflected in their 8-4 record. Edited December 1 by dave mcbride 1 1 Quote

DapperCam Posted December 1 Posted December 1 I’m not sure if it’s a real stat, but I’d be interested in something like success rate per pass attempt or something like that. Teams have so much success running against us, that any volume stats for passing (yards, TDs, passer rating to a degree) won’t tell the full story. Quote

As mentioned above, passer rating differential is the God stat in the NFL, and the Bills D's passer rating against is very good: 80.9. https://www.si.com/more-sports/2011/06/23/most-importantstatpasserratingdifferential 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted December 1 Posted December 1 Well it certainly helps your pass defense statistics when your run defense is so bad that my 94 year old Grandma can go for 70+ yards and a Tuddy. That being said, its also not a surprise, we usually fare pretty well in pass defense statistics every year - atl least until we play Andy Reid in the playoffs and McD and his Defense who seem to have no answers for the Chiefs offense even when their offense is having a down year. 1 Quote
ColoradoBills Posted December 1 Posted December 1 6 minutes ago, dorquemada said: would you say that we've quietly gotten better? LOL, good one. I would say this. Bishop and Poyer are playing better as a safety team than any other combination in the last 2 years. Benford is playing well. CB2 with Tre and Max splitting time is serviceable. Taron needs to get back to something of his former self. It hasn't gotten any worse and that's for sure. 2 Quote

zow2 Posted December 1 Posted December 1 The D has some of the guys back plus I think McD and Babich are fixing it.,, they are doing their jobs and doing it well. In the 2nd half at Houston the D gave up 60 yards and 3 points (thanks to a Shakir fumble). At Pittsburgh they only gave up 7 points (after a turnover), 166 yards and 10 first downs. Quote

We have the least passing attempts against in the league, I feel like we need to look at a pure efficiency stat to get a better idea. Quote

The key metrics are ypa, completion pct, INT rate, and TD rate. If a QB goes 8-11 in a game for 94 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INTs, his passer rating is 128.6. Edited December 1 by dave mcbride 2 1 Quote

The eye test says against legit running games and/or elite WRs/TEs, our defense is straight up homeless ass. Next weekend, Cincy's WRs are gonna smoke our DBs. 1 1 Quote
