  1. 1. What will Sean applogists do when he is fired from Buffalo without ever winning a SB?

    • Finally eat crow and understand he wasted the career of the Greatest Bill of All Time with his weak defense, bad gameplans, and major in-game mistakes
    • Be just as bummed as everyone, but think it wasnt his fault and he just needed a couple more lucky breaks and he couldve done it
    • I'm happy with our handful of Division championships and nothing else to show from finally hitting the lottery on a Franchise QB and Greatest Bill of All Time

It tells nothing. YOU literally started this with "most of the people who vocally want him gone". Yeah, I'm vocal that I want him gone. Beyond that you were wrong on every other point.

Guess I wasn't referring to you then, no?

They beat the Colts and Pats. They are 6-6.  I guess any team we beat where JA isn’t creating heroics is bad.  That’s a pretty accurate statement for this board.

I was being super sarcastic btw, I feel when we win there is always a "yea, but" statement and somehow the HC that was just beat is still somehow thought to be better than ours lol

Doesn’t matter what a fan or any fans think. They have zero impact on changes made or not made in the organization.

They can choose not to go to a new expensive stadium if the team chooses to stay in purgatory. That kinda stuff leads to changes really quick.

serious question- how do we know he's a good coach?

couldn't basically any HC have similar success w the amount of touchdowns we've scored during Allen's time here?

Serious answer:  You’re already convinced (in your mind) that he’s not a good coach, so I’ll save my time.  You think he sucks, then think that way.  It’s your prerogative.

They also didn’t play in the era of this chiefs team.

we’ve had one obstacle other than luck.  KC.  Which will go down as one of the greatest dynasties in nfl history.

I was all for firing McDermott and hiring Johnson or Vrabel.  I’m not all for firing McD just to fire him.  Who’s his replacement? McDermott IS a good coach.  He may not be elite, but the backup plan better be good.  If it’s not, we’ve essentially closed the door on Josh ever winning a Super Bowl.  Placing our trust in Pegula to hire the right guys is more laughable that McD winning a Super Bowl.

some people think that having McD as the coach = zero % chance to win a Super Bowl.  I don’t think that’s the case.  Most logical minds that aren’t already harboring ill will towards him would agree.

We had KC beat basically 2 times.  We failed because, well, McD.  This notion that fans wanting a new coach also have to come up with the coaches' name is a total fallacy.  That's the GM and owners job (the GM is also a failure here)...but if you want names, Kubiak and Shula are good ones.  McD has demonstrated an inability to win in the playoffs and choke at inopportune times, while scapegoating others.  Hoping he figures it out because he's a good regular season coach (questionable this year) and finally wins a SB if he misses this year (when KC is likely out of the playoffs) is just that, hope.  I'd rather "hope" on another coach .  At least the losses would be different.  Could McD eventually win, sure, but he's had enough of JAs prime.  Time to try another route.  Most logical minds that are not living in afear of a new coach would agree.

Well, purgatory is like 8-9, 7-10 type records where you’re consistently mediocre. Again though, even if the stadium was empty the team still makes a lot of money. The stadium hasn’t been near empty since 2-14 in the early to mid 80’s . I don’t see that happening now.

To actually answer OP's question:

I'd be sad, honestly. I like McD as a human and think he's a rock solid B+ coach, who's been an A- before. I completely acknowledge that there isn't much left in the "what else he can try" bucket. Do not fire him until there is an A-level coaching candidate available, though. I will stand by that. I'll take Year 9 over Tomlin, McDaniels, or Daboll.

The months/weeks in-between McD and his replacement will honestly be pretty terrifying, but I'm sure we will find ourselves supporting whoever gets hired regardless of who it is. Like Tomlin, McDaniels, or Daboll.
