Every player is available in the draft, my friend, no matter the draft slot/position/pick...........every player is in play.

Our FO chose to make a trade and get Diggs (a proven commodity) and in essence gave up JJ (whom Minny chose as Diggs replacement).

Our FO could have packaged some picks to draft JJ if they thought he would be gone before their pick, but they know that they only hit on later rounds, so giving up that much asset is wasted on them........and i also believe that they don't know how to properly assess the WR position and i think that a pick like JJ would scare them which is why they would rather get scrub WR's as somewhat value instead of doing their homework.

At the time, many mock drafts had both jefferson and aiyuk off the board.  So we were getting mocked Higgins and Pittman in the 1st.  Both turned out to be good players though so i guess it would have worked out.

I think the challenge here is that only buffalo gets to use hindsight to know what JJ is pre-draft, not the lions or giants who picked busts at 3 or 4.

Game reminds me too much of Zach Wilson that its hard to see him being successful.

To be fair... the trade was not executed during the draft.  They traded for diggs before the draft, not knowing who would be available at the pick.  So to say they didn't see value in a player they didn't know would be available in their draft slot is a bit of a stretch.

Projecting out the draft you probably can’t assume Jefferson will be available at pick 22 either when they decided to trade for Diggs . If they didn’t trade that pick and were intent on using it on a wr there’s a nonzero chance they could’ve ended up with reagor or Tee Higgins instead of Jefferson

Funny enough lookin through Jefferson’s draft profile his weaknesses were not great at separation and doesn’t win 50/50 balls 😂

IDK if it’s that easy he’s going to command big $

They need to figure it out. or stop... step back a year eat dead cap and get the CAP straight... but I dont want to see any more millions spend on Samuel and Palmers... suck it up and get a game wrecker... or fix things so you can.

Thanks to McBeane aren’t we in cap purgatory, we trade and sign and pay JJ how?

We don't. This is just the standard sugar-high lunacy after a win. Also the trade deadline has passed.

Also, Beane wanted a vet WR to help with the young Josh Allen.

No one know how a rookie would have worked with Josh.

They did try.

Maybe I am misremembering, but I don't recall them making any credible offers to him.  I could be wrong, but they should have tried harder.

No chance of getting Jefferson but if Josh is serious about wanting better WRs around him he could always let Beane restructure his contract t in some creative way to open up enough room to sign one of the top FAs. then draft a couple in rounds 1 and 3. screw getting more D-linemen, just obliterate everyone on offense and let the defense be opportunistic when playing with a lead

I would rather see us go hard after a receiver in the draft. Move up to get the guy they want and have a more cap friendly deal locked in. There will be more than a couple really good wideouts available. No sense blowing up our cap anymore than it already is.

Unfortunately 2026 draft is a year with no elite WRs…

JJ McCarthy has shown absolutely nothing. I know it's pretty much his rookie year but the ones who have it at least show glimpses. I don't think he does.

He sure did against the Bears opening night in the 4th qtr.

The kid has moxie.  Their O line has been lousy.  All he ever hears is how Minnesota should have kept Darnold.  The kid is just 22.  He did not play in an airial circus at Michigan.  It was kind of like…our passing game this year.

Give him an offseason to get comfortable.  The kid is going to eventually ball out.
