Can the Chiefs miss the playoffs?

They need to win out. Not out of the question, we've seen the Bills do it before. And 2/5 of their games are auto wins. But they now have zero wiggle room.

Texans, Chargers and Broncos games are all at Arrowhead. 
 

Titans and Raiders on the road but those teams are legitimately as close to an auto-W as you can get in the NFL. 

 

I’m guessing Stroud will be back for their game, for whatever that’s worth and the Chiefs OL is beat up right now.   Both of their starting tackles left the game against Dallas and didn’t return and Trey Smith is currently out with a high ankle sprain.

I think it would be miraculous if KC won all their remaining home games given the state of their OL.

Bills were in this position (6-6) a couple years ago. Bills won out and took the division. There is no division winning option for the Chiefs unless the Broncos should collapse harder than the Dolphins did that year. With the three wild card teams having four losses, even winning out doesn't guarantee them a spot. They lose head-to-head tie breakers with the Jags and Bills and I'm not sure how tiebreakers would look with the Chargers should the two teams end tied at 11-6. 

 

I'll be rooting for a Texans victory over the Chiefs next week but if that doesn't happen, a Texans loss will at least go a long way in helping secure the Bills a wild card spot.

Thanks for updating. Yes when I checked "The Athletic's" playoff calculator it said between 35-42% chance. I assumed the range has to do with the outcome of other games.

I'm at a point where I fully think the division will be out of play for us. Sure things can change fast...but I just don't see it 

 

I'm actually rooting for the Chiefs next week. Houston has the head to head with us and are only 1 game behind. That could be an issue. We need some distance between us and them. 

 

If, and yes it's a big if, we win this week we are two full games over KC and hold the tiebreaker. 

 

It's about us getting in at this point, which isn't a guarantee.

I hate playing bad teams at the end of the year. Everyone in the NFL is good and we’ve seen plenty of strange upsets at the end of the year when a bad roster goes all out to win a game against a playoff contender

 

A few years ago, the Raiders beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead on Christmas Day. Chiefs won the SB that year

Miami’s defense (especially vs run) is actually quite good.  I think they end up 9-8 or 8-9 at worst.

I can't see them threading the needle every week for 5 weeks. They get tight and drop balls or miss blocks in key moments.

KC is just 1-5 on the road this year. Don't be shocked if the young Titans team pulls an upset. Raiders aren't just gonna roll over and die for the Chiefs. I expect both teams to give KC their best shot...much like Miami did to us.

The Texans could very well lose to the Colts this week. With a bills win that would be two games in front of the Texans. Then 3 in from of the chiefs.  Then if the Bills can get the Bengals it will be gravy either way.

Honestly, I hope they make it, squeak in and maybe even win a game. I have no interest in them getting the 12th pick in the draft or whatever.

Lots of "ifs" there. 

 

I tend to think the Texans may do well against a 1 legged Danny Dimes, but never know.

 

What I do know is I want the teams that own tie breakers over us as far back as possible.

They can lose one as long as it’s not to the chargers or Texans.  A lot of it is out of their hands if that were to happen

Titans have quietly upgraded from atrocious to just flat out bad the last couple weeks haha the raiders are hopeless though
