Dwayne sand troy Smith but your point is well taken, usually not good. fields is terrible. I would argue Burrow doesn’t count because he never played more than a handful of snaps at Ohio State. But isn’t it weird? One of the historically best programs in the country with the best groups of wide receivers, And they have never really fielded an elite pro QB. Just an interesting anomaly ! 1 Quote

Maybe because when you have the skill positions of Ohio State you just need a prototypical college quarterback to get it done Colleges don't recruit kids based on their pro potential they recruit them based on how quickly they can help them in college... Tim Tebow one of the best college quarterbacks of all time Realistically those are the style of quarterbacks Ohio state has been recruiting for the majority.. athletic quarterbacks who can take advantage of great weapons Not exactly pure pocket passing Savants... Even when they get a good pocket passer they have three first round pick wide receivers so it's harder to gauge who's really doing more ... Even last year the kid from Kansas state was a running threat at Kansas State... All the passing weapons opened up his arm at Ohio state it's typically the wide receivers and running backs that open up things for Ohio State wide QBs Edited 15 hours ago by Buffalo716 1 Quote

But do you think the absolute elite QB prospects shy away from Ohio State? I would think they would want to go to a place with great receivers. Quote

I would think they would want to go to a place with great receivers. Well that's what makes recruiting a crap shoot No they definitely get quarterbacks with NFL potential... They do get super talented guys But coaches are not developing quarterbacks in college for their NFL future... They're getting developed to beat Michigan and Iowa next week And schools like Ohio State also run slightly gimmicky spread offenses How a 18 to 23 year old quarterback develops is kind of a crap shoot.. you never know who's the late bloomer Again even someone like Joe burrow was at Ohio State.. but he was buried on the depth chart and could never see the field because I quote Urban Meyer He throws like a girl So a historical Blue blood program with a top shelf pocket passer doesn't even fit his mold... Like he was buried... Because he can't move and he had guys with stronger arms It's because they had better athletes above him not better quarterbacks Do get guys like Julian saiyan.. who is a pocket passer with NFL potential But playing in that system... With those guys.. is not going to help him long run compared to quarterbacks who got it done with less for 4 years in college So being an Ohio State quarterback has perks... You have a lot of exposure... You're in a high scoring offense.. Blue blood program... Great wide receivers.. historically good running game That could actually sometimes limit the growth of a kid whose goal is to become a 10-year NFL starting quarterback.. saiyan is going to go to an NFL team where they don't protect him as well and they don't have as good as wide receivers Allen and mahomes were at not great football schools historically... didn't throw to a lot of NFL wide receivers, wasn't surrounded by five NFL linemen They actually had to grow as players... Ohio State quarterbacks do grow , but they don't face much adversity Edited 15 hours ago by Buffalo716 1 1 Quote

Billsfanatic8989 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) OSU gets great receivers, OL, and other perks. A QB's job is made much easier when guys are open by 10 yards on each play. And other young kids need to worry about the run. Well in the NFL, you aren't going to get access to all of the great receivers and OL. You have to hit a receiver open by two yards instead of ten. Defenses are much bigger, faster, stronger and smarter. Getting by on physical strengths alone is not enough. It's like going from multiplication to complicated algebra. So I agree with the poster above. Edited 1 hour ago by Billsfanatic8989 Quote

Have you watched SAYIN this year? I watch all the buckeyes games and this years team is legit. They are more fun to watch than the bills are unfortunately. Sayin is much better than last years qb. Kid has a strong arm , fearless in the pocket , makes good judgements , has a record breaking deep ball ( he’s completing over 70% of balls forty yards or deeper , he has great receivers [ yeah beany boy, talent and catch radius, and speed matter] , he can run, and he is great under pressure. I wasn’t aware of him , but compared to Howard from last year , he looks amazing. I agree , I have never been impressed with buckeye QBs. Fields was an easy one to see was going to be a bust. He was inaccurate and a running qb who didn’t like contact. The WRs currently are just amazing tho with smith and Tate. Either could start now on the Bills. Safties are good too. CBS are ok , they hold a lot tho and they only look good because the DL and LBS are elite. This is a really talented team. So , sayin might make it as an nfl qb. His accuracy , amazing deep throwing , and low int numbers I think translate to the nfl. Will see tho. I do wish McD would grab Matt Patricia for d coordinator. He is a great coordinator , good guy , has the bucks as #1 def in college football. If I’m pegula and the bills fail to make the playoffs ( or at most one and done) , I demand he brings in fresh coordinators or he’s done. Heck Day woukd even be a good HC candidate. He’s innovative , offense minded , lets his coordinators work without micromanaging them and basically runs a pro program at Ohio state as it is. The bills probably wouldn't be able to afford him tho. I’m just sayin tho , WATCH OUT FOR SAYIN! 😊. First good buckeye qb to make it in the nfl. ( he’s also way better than the Texans qb who was very soft as a buckeye as well). Quote
