Joe B ranking of all players through 9 games

Just one person's take on the season so far, but note that his bottom six players are in the defensive back seven. Among players who have played the requisite number of snaps (minimum of 135), he has Matt Milano as the lowest rated player on the team. In the Miami game, he ranked Milano 31st out of 32.

To be ranked lower than Taylor Rapp…is really something.  You’d have to be seriously injured or not even trying. Or both.

I am not sure I agree with the top two.   Brown has been fantastic run blocking but is average in pass blocking.   I think Torrence is steady, but pretty much a replacement level player.  I wouldnt pay to keep him here long term.

I have zero doubts Cole Bishop has risen on this list considerably, even though he sits at 20th. 

I also don't think White has been horrible this year.

I feel like Milano really hasn't made a play all season. He has one sack, one TFL, and 11 solo tackles this year. He has zero forced turnovers, zero fumble recoveries, and -- most shocking given how elite he was as a pass defender in 2022 and the first handful of games of 2023 before injury -- zero passes defensed.

Interesting. But Hairiston isn't on there & Palmer slid even though he didn't play. There may be something in the criteria for that. Also, Bishop is too low at 20.

Minimum of 135 snaps. Hairston will be on there soon enough. Bishop has gone up over the course of the season. He is a good player, but he has had some rough outings too.

The Bills struggles are told literally in players 26 through 33. 8 starters listed (or did start in Rapps case), both starting LBs, your starting WR2, etc.. just awful.

I agree with your assessment of both. Torrence to me has been steady in his career but far from great or elite. I would definitely think he replacement with an average G either through a higher end draft pick or mid level free agent.

I don't think h e has missed a game.  Duribility is a factor not noted in this comment.  Helps bring stability to the line w that ability to stay healthy.  He will get  paid elsewhere imho.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team where so many players regressed so badly from one season to the next: Milano, Rapp, Bernard, Johnson, even Benford…unprecedented.  All under 30, too, except Milano…

torrence is just ok, possibly still developing...brown looks a little shaky in pass pro, missing some reps he normally crushes

A few splash plays have completely overshadowed how bad our DTs have been as well.
 

Poor DT play + 220lb LBers = Bad

benford's been playing injured like 99% sure he'll bounce back

 

was never that high on rapp/bernard, and taron johnson and milano just have too many nfl miles at this point imo...tough positions to play in this defense

That's coaching, and we have a rookie DC.

 

Lots of fans wanted McD to let the DC be the DC over the summer and stay out of it. I'm glad he's getting more involved. 

 

For our regressing older players, Bilicheck said it's always better to move on a year early than a year late. 
 

The roster construction this year will be the teams downfall.

I don't know what metric he used to grade, but man those bottom 7 match what I've seen from the good old fashioned "eye test"

 

I strongly disagree with him on Bishop who has looked far better then the metric he has assigned.

Durability is great but his on the field play to me is average at best. Sorry not sorry but don't mind if we let him go. Let him get overpaid elsewhere.

With Brown, I think his height can get him in trouble in pass protection, especially with speed rushers.   He isn't a natural knee bender and tends to stay too high.   Absolute monster in the run game though.   I think Torrence is just what he is at this point.   4 year starter in college so he has played a lot of football.    When he gets beat across his face he isnt enough of an athlete to make up for it.    Dion's been struggling a bit too.    That said, if the wideouts win, Josh doesnt have to hold the ball as long, and the line looks better.
