Ive been saying for weeks, they need to pick ONE of Samuel or Moore to focus on getting regularly involved in the passing game.  And I always felt that guy was Moore as I think he has a higher ceiling as a downfield WR/Threat.  

 

With Palmer out, its mind blowing they didn't focus on getting Moore and Keon more consistently involved in the offense.  Like run plays designed to get them open and the ball.  Put them in their best positions to succeed out there and make an effort to make them part of the game plan.  

 

Keon is Mack Hollins 2.0 right now, where he is heavily used as a blocker when we need more from him as a receiver.  I have yet to see a game plan where it was like lets move Keon around and get him going like Atlanta or Indy does with guys like London and Pittman who are also not burners.  And Moore is the new McKenzie right now, they use him as a gadget guy and not really someone they seem to try and work into the passing game enough.  

 

I just want to see Brady use the tools he has better and smarter.  Cook is under utilized as a receiver as well.

My biggest question about receivers is Beane’s hesitancy to resign Hollins. He was so productive and clutch. He was not going to be expensive but with other clubs interested it was just easier to let him walk .Samuel has been often injured and it’s obvious Josh has no trust or desire to target him. Moore, for whatever reason is an afterthought in our offense. With Palmer being a lower tier addition as a FA, it makes you wonder how Beane is prioritizing talent or if he is just slapping together journeyman players that fit into the beleaguered cap situation he has with the overpaid players he has extended and Josh/Cook contracts. It’s hard to reconcile the sad reality that Beane never intended to add any quality talent with an untenable financial commitment and this will continue. Unless he stumbles on a player drafted late in round one, Josh will have to make due with lesser talent at receiver.

Hollins was a dog. A big time juice guy. None of his measurables or stats jump off the page but Josh and that offense knew he was coming to fight every Sunday and we have NOBODY like that this year. I haven’t even seen Dion get fighting mad but once all year. We used to call those kind of personal fouls moto15’s and every now and then you need to see some of that. Our offense has looked DOA almost every game this year. I think guys like Hollins attitude is worth way more than he would have counted against the cap and he’s proving it in New England

It’s painful to think we’re wasting our great QB with game plans that are designed around a receiving corps that can’t stretch the field or get separation. Realistically our talent level can’t improve until we purge this roster of players that are overpaid and not impactful. Sadly I don’t think Beane, with his resume of roster construction shouldn’t be the one making these decisions.

And I agree on more Moore.

Not that Shavers is all that as a receiver, but he would stick as he's a good blocker and special team demon. If anybody would ride the pine it would be Keon. He is next to useless and gets the lion's share of the snaps.

And don't forget that Hollins was a very good special teams player.
