"Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jaire Alexander is stepping away from football to get right physically and mentally, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday.

The 28-year-old CB will then decide on his playing future after the break, per Garafolo."

Interesting, I wonder what's going on.. he's been in the league for some time

I remember the Packers-Bills game in 2022 where him and Diggs were fighting all night long.. something funny to see

These guys are just guys, after all.

I don't really think we realize this sometimes. Like Kneeland.. he was struggling we just thought he was a football player

Absolutely correct. I think many just see these players as faceless interchangeable parts. And in the larger aspect of the game, that's not totally inaccurate. The game will chew you up, spit you out and move on.

But, fans don't often enough acknowledge that these are real people that face some of the same stresses and downs that we all do.

Dangerous game to play if you aren't playing fast and focused. It is a hell of a beating to take with a lifetime effects if your heart isn't in it.

Best of luck to the dude.

And to think, this is considered a much more player-friendly league than it was 20-30 years ago. Now, there's a big emphasis on player health and safety, both physical and mental, when back then, trying to take a QB or WR's head off was looked at as just part of the game and what happened to them off the field wasn't really any of their concern.

There's some that say the league has been hurt by these rule and policy changes, but they were necessary. Like you said, these are human beings, not rock 'em sock'em robots, who have lives and who also need to have lives after football.
