He looked worn down. Any reports of him having a bug or something? It was 87 degrees with a lot of humidity. Coming from Buffalo where the temps were in the 30s. Tough to simulate that. 2 2 Quote

We have all seen it and talked about it, you can see it in how he plays and the look on his face. I think Hailee has him messed up, AND the lack of WR talent has gotten to him. Im gonna double down and say he retires sooner than later. I agree something isn't right is it some nagging injury or has he lost the fire while dealing with a wife and baby on the way? He looked exhausted Sunday and clearly missing open receivers. He has to trust getting ball to them early in route and let them get YACs. 1 Quote
Billz4ever Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 31 minutes ago, Mango said: This isn't a Miami week specific issue. He isn't just not throwing to the open guy, he is looking at guys who are open and just not throwing them the ball. His whole feel for the game is like half a beat off. I have seen him with 15+ yards of green grass in front of him only to chuck some last minute heave into double coverage that inevitibly falls incomplete instead of scampering out of bounds for 6 yards and leaving us with 3rd and 4 instead of 3rd and 10. It just has the feel of the 2018 season without the electricity. The comment about "mind somewhere else" seems to maybe fit. Fixable but concerning. I do think that he is slow to process compared to his QB 1a peers (ie Mahomes, Brady, Manning). His physicality and physiology bail him out. When he is sharp he is unstopabble, but we he is not it isn't pretty. Anyways, it is clear this team would be lucky to even have two wins right now if it weren't for Allen. But better QB play would also have us undefeated. I think the offense we're running is also part of the problem. As we all know, Josh, maybe more than most, is a rhythm QB. Sometimes it takes him a minute, but once he's in that headspace, he's nearly unstoppable. He's even alluded to this in the past. A run heavy offense that focuses on a lot of short passes (too much IMO) can make it harder for him to get in a groove. He was brilliant in the KC game and I think at least some of that was because we were taking more downfield shots and Josh was able to get into a rhythm. I could be way off, but that's just my observation of Josh this season vs previous seasons and what they're doing offensively. 1 Quote

Every so called better team has 2-3 sh-tty losses as well, and I'm sure the week after those losses "the sky was falling" as well. geez. Who said the sky was falling. They can right the ship, they did it after the bye. Just breaking down WTF happened. 1 2 Quote
dorquemada Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago McD has lost the team, that's a bunch of dudes going through the motion. They got absolutely wrecked by a bottom feeding Miami team that's in freefall, in a game the Bills needed to win to keep the Pats within reach. I'm a huge Allen fan, but if he's read the tea leaves and doesn't see success, I just don't think this version of Josh is going to try to will the team across the finish line. I expect a lot of frowny faces and barf emoticons, but that was the worst effort I've seen from the Bills in a very very long time. Best case is they all went out and got completely hammered on saturday night and were puking their guts out at gametime, but I don't think that's what happened here 4 1 Quote

I expect there are challenges to having a bi-coastal marriage to a "Hollywood" wife with her own career ambitions and goals. She's not going to play the role of the good star football player's wife running cookie sales or clothing drives for the community. Add in all of Allen's off field activities, appearances, commercials, interviews, more or less celebrity status after winning the MVP. It all adds up to a lot of distractions. On top of all that, he's experienced and smart enough to understand the shortcomings of the team and where things are headed. A likely wild card playoff spot and an early exit from the tournament. I'd love it this off season if he wakes up to the fact that half his career is past and demands the front office does the things most posters and observers of the team see as obvious flaws that need to be fixed if they want to make it to and win a Super Bowl. Let's start with getting some play making and impact receivers. 1 Quote

We've had injuries yes, but we have a lack of talent in certain areas. Edited 2 hours ago by D. L. Hot-Flamethrower 1 2 Quote

This is the NFL and even the bad teams have a shot at times. Not to mention that this was a division game and Buffalo has beaten them like a redheaded stepchild over the last few seasons. To Miami, this was their super bowl and big time revenge. The Dolphins wanted this more than life itself and some of the Bills players didn't put out the effort to win. Plus, they might have been looking past them at the Bucs. the Dolphins HC went trolling to a Bills bar after the game to rub it in. This game meant so much to them. We will see this week if that game was an anomaly or what the future holds. We Bills fans can only hope for the former! If getting trolled by McDaniel and flamed by the media does not change the focus of this team then nothing will. 1 Quote
Dillenger4 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Hopefully they beat TB this Sunday and then Thursday night will be a bash!! If we can get back... beat TB and Houston - all will be looking up baby! Let's go! GO BILLS! or, If we lose on Sunday to TB then I hope for a semi tank as we could use a good draft! 2 Quote
JMM Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago This is a GREAT analysis by Jim who always does a great job and often has marveled at how great Allen can be. The bottom line is that Josh is simply not playing within the system like he did all last year and the half season when Brady took over. He's not taking the easy outlets, he's indecisive, he is impatient, his fundamentals and footwork are poor again. The reasons for this need to be figured out. This is more than a slump. It's very surprising. I didn't expect him to play at last year's level, but not this kind of backslide. It is very puzzling. 2 1 Quote

Nitro Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Allen, as I have said all season, seems to be off. His reads are ignoring open receivers and when he does throw more often than not his passes are off. To me, it seems his mechanics are off due to his change of throwing or a lingering effect of his elbow injury. I have injured right elbow my right elbow years ago and it flares up once in a while. Second point is QB play is mentally taxing and it looks like he is struggling out there. Not sure how you can overcome this in midseason. Keep playing him and maybe reduce his options to three? The offense as a whole needs to execute and excel. Stop waiting on Allen to put on his cape. Quote

This is the first time I'm looking at his analysis and I have to say I disagree with everything. That first route he shows the two defenders sit on the in routes and are clearly expecting it. It looks like a great read to avoid a pick six by Allen. There's literally nothing open on that play. To en route running the receiver right at the defender is dumb, Brady should have Shakir do an out or bench out there and then there might be someone open space. On the RPO it's perfectly defended by the dolphin. I'm not surprised Allen handed it off. They probably don't want him taking a lot of piss. it's just a dumb play call. There's just no one open on these routes and place. The offensive design is horrible. I'm confused by the analysis on the INT. Kubiak says there are 3 good options, but Shavers is the only guy remotely open? And that was a slow developing route. It's still a god awful throw by Allen, but I disagree with the analysis that he had multiple good options on the play. Quote

Sorry to say it but they've now dropped 3 of their last 5 and looked extremely mediocre or worse in each of the 3 losses. Beane's fundamental mishandling of the roster, and McD/Brady/Babich inability to have the team prepared for games they should absolutely win are all bearing their inevitable results. 1 2 Quote
