What I don't understand is why this defense, with a defensive head coach, is so bad at tackling. I mean, what could be more fundamental and (correct me if I'm wrong) easy to learn?

The amount of practice time they get to actually practice tackling

Been down across the league for a decade because of the CBA and how little they can do contact practice

Compare that to like Nick Saban at Alabama who's practices would be tougher than 90% of their games.. you don't see tackling problems

I see, thanks. I was assuming that the inordinate number of injuries on this team came from physical (but apparently) ineffective practices.

No it's probably due to not enough time to actually physically tackle in practice

They're in the NFL.. so people think that they should have that down to a science

Not realizing that not consistently practicing tackling, make your tackling worse... These guys rarely tackle during practice week during the season

So their form and constant conditioning to Big impacts is down from what it was 20 years ago... Once the season starts they are rarely tackling in practice

Jerry O said it perfectly- Diggs was a "leader" when things were going well. And when things were going bad, he had a tempter tantrum.

He ran himself out of town for reasons I still will never understand

I think it is as simple as he wasn’t a fan of the offensive direction of the team.

I used to think this.

Then I realized that Joe Brady is apparently poison to any WR he coaches here.

Diggs was a shell of himself with Brady.

Davis was a shell of himself with Brady.

Shakir is now a glorified running back.

Brady wanted Samuel.  Samuel is a non-factor.

Moore is a serviceable WR everywhere he’s been.  All he does here is run failed jet sweeps.

Maybe Diggs was right to force his way out after seeing the direction this team was taking on Offense.

It worked when teams didn’t have a full season of tape on it, but now they do and our passing offense looks 10x more dysfunctional than Jaxson Dart throwing to a WR room led by Wandale Robinson.

I'm not saying Diggs didn't have any reasons to be upset in the offence, but the original post I was replying too was "Diggs was a good leader and we ran him out of town".

Diggs was throwing temper tantrums before even Brady came here. Including throwing Josh under the bus after the bengals loss. Not too mention his cryptic tweets and his offseason drama in 2023.

He was a head case in Minnesota, here , and will always be a complete narcissist

I will start taking two Bills drive bets that diggs runs himself out of New England within the next 2 years

-110 it happens

Haha yep 100 percent. Let's see how good of a "leader" he is when New England starts losing a few games in a row and he isn't involved in the offence

Buffalo has become a place where WRs go to die. You're not wrong. Sigh.

We're talking about Brady's offense.

Obviously before then it was the opposite. Miss the days where guys had career years playing here, that's how it should be.

If I'm an NFL WR, I wouldn't find Buffalo a desirable spot at the moment.

He literally was the passing game coordinator of the greatest passing game in college football history

Something has to be off...  Sure the weapons might not be able to replicate the LSU passing offense

But you think he could come up with some wrinkles

The analytics say it was 10% luck, 20%  skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain

Considering it was Miami, only 5% pleasure? I think that's where they lost the game.

Anyone else checked out of this bills season? We are 2-3 in our last 5 games.

Checked out?

I'm not that spoiled yet.  I hope I never get to that point. We're still competing for the division, we're still a playoff contender, we could still end up w/ the 1 seed, etc.

I endured the whole drought.  I'm going to enjoy every moment of every season we have with Allen.

You got that right. Something is obviously missing in the passing game. While film review pundits and all-22 screenshots suggest guys are often open (I wonder how proportionately true that is against Man coverages) and Josh just isn't hitting his underneath stuff in rhythm, there has to be factors (beyond Allen) contributing to this lack of synchronicity. Whether it's oppo scouting and what the coaches are expecting out of the defense each week, therefore resulting in Allen reading the wrong keys pre-snap and making the wrong adjustments, or the progressions post-snap are ordered/prioritized incorrectly in relation to what the defense is taking away, which causes Allen not to trust what he's seeing, or he's not prepared to read pressures accurately in conjunction with his OL and slide protections effectively, etc etc etc. I keep wondering if the offensive staff overall, minus Kromer, is better than their counterparts each week.

Obviously, most of us understand the WR group is objectively bottom tier. That puts even greater pressure on everyone else to perform optimally. I don't think Brady and his battery of passing coaches are up to that challenge. Kromer and Boras seem like they've got the inline blocking schemes optimized more often than not. Even in spite of play-calling predictability and on-field/pre-snap tells.

IMO the only logical explanation is that Brady is operating within the restrictions demanded of the offense by McD.  I'm a big college football fan and that LSU passing attack was aggressive and stretched the field.

Or Brady is operating within the restrictions based on the personnel of the Buffalo Bills

We tried being a heavy Air attack with Dorsey.. the offense was bogged down and diggs did not look the same as in the past

So they structured everything around this run first offense... But in that transition they've lost a bunch of fluidity in the pass game

It's a massive difference to structure the pass game  around a spread 3-4 wide receiver personnel..  and a two tight end system under center

You have to make do with what you have on the season... Brady needs to watch film on how teams stretch the field on two three tight end personnel

That would open up every part of our offense if he could get our tight ends running down the seams
