Really?  Belichick sucked in CLE.  Marv sucked in KC, too.  I’m not saying that Daboll or anyone else is the next BB.  I am, however, making the point that people can and do learn from failure.

there are no really great oc's in the nfl right now. they're all HC's.

I heard it wasn’t as frosty as it’s been.  Maybe around the time of Josh’s wedding.  But who knows.  McD might see him as a threat now and this might have to be driven by Josh.

Took long enough. He's definitely not head coach material. And there were plenty of times where he didn't even look like coordinator material. Schoen's gotta be following soon.

McDermott and Daboll both get fired today, who is the first to get a HC gig? Gotta be mcdermott right?  Daboll will get an OC gig anywhere. I'm not sure McDermott would get many chances at even a college DC, and that's not a put-down

I have my issues with Daboll. I think we are a run first time right now and I'm ok with that.

 

But the man could scheme receivers open.

McDermott gets hired by a rebuilding team as HC in about 10 minutes. Daboll will have his pick of OC jobs, as will Mike McDaniel. Both will get another shot at HC in a few years, after they rehab their reputations. They don't call it a coaching carousel for nothing.

if he says something closer to the latter I think  there’s a chance Daboll returns.   Hopefully someone words their question intentionally 

He could say "with respect to Brian, I'm focused on the guys in the room" or something like that. 
 

You know it's going to be asked, and PR is working on an answer.

Daboll took a raw talent and helped mold him into a MVP. He deserves credit for that. The rest of his resume is meh. 

Did Daboll take Josh under his wing and make him improve his backdrops and throwing motion or did Allen hire Carson Palmer?

I might be in the minority, but I still believe that Dabs has been and will continue to be a career mediocrity everywhere he goes. Josh made Dabs.  Dabs didn’t make Josh.

I agree with you, maybe Dabs system helped him learn to read defenses better or keyed him on what to look for etc.

I don't think Belichick learned from failure. I think he lucked out with the best QB in NFL history for 20 years. He didn't just suck before Brady, he was bad after him to
