The athletic director was not involved?

That's pretty screwed up.

That could also mean Woodward is on his way out.

If not, that has a potential to cause a problem in looking for the next HC.

What possible HC wants to walk into a situation where a higher up will pull an end around and stick their nose into a situation they may know nothing about?

I dont think its a secret that at any SEC school, if the Governor is calling meetings to have you canned, no AD in the world can stop it. And that's the way of life down here.

I dont think it will turn any candidate off from the opportunity. They all know what they're signing up for and it's still worth it.

Curious what the morality clauses were that brought the buy out way down.

I think that's such a grey, subjective area that just the threat of being publicly called out on morality clauses and the damage it could do to finding his next job is enough to get almost anyone to agree to taking a lesser amount.

With all the stories pouring out about what a jerk he was/is on a daily basis, it's probably all those little paper cuts. LSU could make any of those into a big deal and drag it out in the media to get out of paying, or Kelly could just take $27M (still a good amount of money) and walk away clean.

Or theres a big bombshell waiting to drop that we'll find out in time. Wouldnt put it past Kelly, but I think if there was anything really real there, they'd use it to get out of the contract completely. And it's not like he has so many friends that theyd protect him from the story already getting out. But who knows.

The school also doesnt have a President right now, which is why the Governor and Board are so involved.

So now these guys need to hire a President, Athletic Director, and Head Coach.

Chances they get it all right?

Bigger chance hell freezes over...

Governor making these decisions? LSU was the only place in the country where that sounds right

No President, no AD, no HC, and a meddling career politician governor with no experience running an Athletic department, what could go wrong?

The governor bypassing the AD to fire the HC directly was pretty stupid, but it now appears he wants some kind of authority to sign off on the new HC contract.

All of this being one month away from NSD.

LSU is officially a 🤡 show.

🤣🤣

I am with him on these guaranteed contracts, but that bell has been rung.

LSU getting a quality HC is now a long shot.

LSU fans wanted the school to offer Saban $200M to come back (99.9% sure that's not going to happen), or try to get Kiffin.

Why would Kiffin want to walk into that s*** show without a guaranteed contract?

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/46924174/brian-kelly-lawsuit-says-lsu-claims-not-formally-terminated-coach-now-seeking-fire-cause-avoid-buyout

"In a legal filing against LSU's board of supervisors, Brian Kelly's attorneys say LSU has taken the position that it has not "formally terminated" Kelly as the Tigers' football coach.

The school, according to the petition for declaratory judgment, is now seeking to fire Kelly "for cause" and potentially avoid paying a full buyout of nearly $54 million. The filing claims that LSU informed Kelly's representatives of this position Monday."

Why are they not calling me back for an interview I've applied for 20 years!

I don't care that I can't speak in a Southern bayou accent I'll learn sign language for the people in the bayou or something

I'll get an interpreter!

Kelly should show up on Saturday and coach the game then. Just to stick it to them. 😆 Even better if he wins.

Whole state sounds like an episode of 'The Dukes of Hazzard', without the altruistic undertones. 🤨

This s*** show over Kelly is just as funny as the circus that surrounded Utenn back in 2017 when they fired Butch Jones.

For those who don't remember, here's a snippet: : https://www.si.com/college/2021/01/18/tennessee-jeremy-pruitt-fired-fulmer

What that article doesn't mention, after Currie pulled Schiano's offer, a long list of coaches refused UT's advances.

Currie finally got Mike Leach to agree to become the new HC. Meanwhile, Fat Phil Fulmer was working behind the scenes to get Currie fired and have himself installed as the new AD. Currie was fired before Leach had a chance to sign the contract. Fat Phil told Leach to go pound sand, and dropped hints he wanted to appoint himself as the new HC. UTenn Board said "No".

Must watch this video all the way to end.

Joe Brady reference about the 3:40 mark
