Had he blocked his guy (right in his path too) it would likely take #7 out of the play too. With Cook's cutback ability he would have been sprung for the 40+ yard TD.

 

Either no urgency or no spatial awareness on that play.

 

Keon should sit and Davis should play.

He can't run right into 31's back and level him, that's a penalty.

Or, he could just be unaware of his R&R on the play, which is also what it looks like to me - "lost in space"

IDK you could be right, could be a "career move" but he really wouldn't have needed to make a career move there to have an effective block.

 

I'd like to see the rest of the field on this play to have a better idea of what happened.

 

I'm assuming it was a called run play because it wasn't and RPO.  I can't remember if Josh audibled the play or not.  Shavers looks like he was running right at his defender who peeled off quickly recognizing that it was a run but he still turned in at him.  Colemen went inside and then avoided both defenders that I'm guessing he was suppose to be going after.

 

I do agree, that hitting 31 blind would have been a penalty when his numbers were showing but turning away from the play that was designed for you to be the run blocker in the middle of the field makes it a toss up for me if it was 33% of anything (didn't know his assignment/business decision/didn't want to block).
