Bleeding Bills Blue Posted October 28 Posted October 28 4 of his carries were in the 4th quarter after Dawkins, Edwards, and McGovern came out of the game up 40-9. Its a 100 percent obvious run down, and those 4 carries resulted in 1 yard total. Did people actually watch the game? Quote

However, that is not what brought him to the big leagues and so far this year we are seeing a much less productive Ray Davis. In the preseason he looked awful and so far this year he has looked awful. So I am curious as to if the staff will use a call up soon on Frank Gore Jr, put him in Davis role, make Davis inactive and see if that is an upgrade. We have 3 call ups, so at one point would you say, ok let's see what Gore can do for us this year? After all, Gore ran behind the same backups that Davis did in preseason and looked much better. Gores stats in 2025 11 carries, 29 yards, 2.6 yards per attempt. We will need someone to spell Cook... So if you had a say, would you give Gore a call up and make Ray inactive to see if this helps. And if so, how long a leash are you giving Davis before you do this? https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/4429501/ray-davis We can't expect Cook or any running back to have almost 400 touches.... It possibly started with his kick return TD against the Texans but more significant was the game against the Steelers. Before the Pittsburgh game Davis had 24 carries for 44 yards... 1.83 yards per carry. Last week he had 9 carries for 62 yards... 6.89 yards per carry. The 15 pounds he dropped during the offseason has him looking more agile and it seems like he's understanding the blocking schemes better. Hopefully he'll be able to assume a larger share of touches to keep James Cook fresh for the playoffs. 2 2 Quote

skibum Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) It was nice to see him have a 'big' game, but the Steelers couldn't stop a toddler on a tricycle last week. Can Ray make the same impact against a better run defense? History suggests not really, but it sure would be great if what we saw in Pittsburgh was a sign of things to come. His college reel would indicate the potential is there. Edited 10 hours ago by skibum 1 Quote
In Summary Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Give me 5 carries per game with a 5 yard average for starters. Quote
BillsShredder83 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Im very much a 'you are what you show you are' guy. But hes been setup for failure all year. Zero chance to get in any rhythm. No 3rd down targets. When he has gotten a hand off, theres 2mins left, were up 2 scores, 100% sold out vs run. We need to get him some real drives, not for his good, our own. Cook has never seen this type of work load and hes our most important player currently. If we wanna make a run, g2 let off the gas with him. Also a thunder lightning thing would benefit the duo and that OL. We gotta few weeks to get it going and its a worthy investment. 1 Quote
