Had a decent lunch today.  Stewart’s in Rahway, NJ (Dion Dawkins turf).  It still features drive in service.  Hot dogs, burgers, fries, root beer floats.  Classic American food.

The last time I went there was 2007/2008ish.  Dion may not have even been in high school yet.  But the place was the exact same as I remember it.  Even the uniforms the girls working there were wearing.

Will def try and make it back.  I do love places like this society hasn’t touched so to speak.

in honor of tomorrow match up...  One of if not the most exciting plays in NFL History.

Randall escaping Bruce Smith for the safety to throw a 95 yard td pass to Fred Barnett

The play was before my time but since the Bills actually won that day it enhances the coolness of it/that game!

A friend who lives in the DC area was at the 1985 game. He said you could hear Theisman's leg snap in the stands.

Not sure this be deemed nostalgic or if it’s accurate, but if it is…..

They didn't build that stadium over an aboriginal or Civil War graveyard, did they?  Bad juju! 🤔

A Chicago dog is loaded with peppers, celery salt, mustard, relish, onions, but Don’t ask for ketchup!

the hamburger was invented by Louies Lunch in New Haven.  They have anti ketchup signs hung up in the restaurant.  Ask for ketchup, and you get laughed out of the building.

let the record state- I’m anti ketchup!  And I applaud Louie’s and Chicago Dogs!

Lots of claims on who invented the hamburger... Even local claim:

"Frank and Charles Menches claim to have sold a ground beef sandwich at the Erie County Fair in 1885 in Hamburg, New York.[21] During the fair, they ran out of pork sausage for their sandwiches and substituted beef. The brothers exhausted their supply of sausage, so they purchased chopped-up beef from a butcher, Andrew Klein. Historian Joseph Streamer wrote that the meat was from Stein's market, not Klein's, despite Stein's having sold the market in 1874. The story notes that, in this case, the name of the hamburger comes from Hamburg, New York, not Hamburg, Germany.[25] Frank Menches's obituary in The New York Times states that these events took place at the 1892 Summit County Fair in Akron, Ohio."

Probably holes in all these stories & claims...

Louis' Lunch in New Haven, Connecticut, recognized by the Library of Congress as the birthplace of the hamburger,

served its first hamburger in 1900. Created by Louis Lassen for a hurried customer, the original burger consisted of a proprietary blend of ground steak trimmings, broiled vertically, and served between two slices of toasted white bread with cheese, onion, and tomato—no condiments allowed.
