If you have a guy who is in the top 10 conversation year after year, you pay him. You don’t dump them shooting for a perennial top 3 guy. Those guys are usually Hall of Famers.

 

How many HoF or HoF trajectory QBs have been drafted since Aaron Rodgers in 2005? Wilson, Mahomes, Allen, Lamar  is the entirety of the list. Maybe one more that we don’t know yet, but Wilson wasn’t more than a top 10 guy for a lot of his career. 
 

So hoping you can find 1 of 4 give or take QBs over 20 years is not a good strategy.

Most people liked Pickens' talent. It was obvious to see.

 

The problem is that there are strings attached to that talent.

the Flacco example of course being the pretty good qb that had not gotten the second contract yet. 
 

honestly I think that Stafford is a comfortable step above dak. 
 

hurts is basically the exception to my rule of thumb but somehow the eagles manage to spend like they have an extra 50M in cap space still

Jalen Carter is a true nutjob. Highlyyyyy competitive, loud, plays through whistle and sometimes after a little bit (which i don't hate at all, situationally).

 

Sometimes that nutjob will catch you a dumb flag, might even get you thrown out for spitting lol thats a small part of nutjob package you sign up for.

 

Pickens is the opposite. Hes supremely talented with elite pedigree. You'll never see any of that from above though^^

 

He likes doing what he likes doing, like getting the ball (usually lol). Anything thats not that? Its a no thanks. Then you'll occasionally get head scratchers... you had a close games. An important game. Favorable matchup against a bad defense. Lamb went down, should've meant extra targets and maximum engagement from him..... he had no interest lol

I also am a lot more lenient than most. If a dude is locked in on the field, and its not specifically the r-word act with women, or abuse of kids, I'm in favor of drafting a borderline criminal/off field problems, in favor of supreme talent.

 

My point here? ^^Even these types i referebce above are more desirable than Pickens. On top of that hes a d bag in locker room. 

 

He made it 11 games in the single most positive conditions, with his biggest payday ever on the line, and the wheels are falling off lol

 

Now imagine him here, in a run first offense, where even if we get a different coordinator, he will not see the ball anywhere near as much as he does now. Then giving him $50-$60m guaranteed? Lol absolutely not. Thankfully the one time here, our conservative FO, would never ever on earth entertain this lol
