The LB corps  looks so weak outside Milano. It's the only huge question mark for me.

It's how Beane wants it. After spending a 3rd on Bernard last season and him being brought along slowly as a Rookie, he wants to give him every opportunity to win the job and validate his investment.

But he also covered his bases in case he can't. In the event he can't, he brought back A.J. Klein (as well as Tyrel Dodson) as steady veteran insurance. Also drafting Dorian Williams as further insurance, or at the very least depth at both MLB and OLB.

Taylor Rapp will also surely be deployed further upfield in some packages and McDermott will scheme around the MLB position.

I find it funny how (not necessarily saying you) some fans spent all of the past few years saying Edmunds was "just a guy" or a liability and we couldn't get any worse. Now everyone's stressed about the shape of MLB now that he's gone.

Edmunds is switching to weak side in Chicago. He’s not a MLB. We key-holed him at Mike. I’m curious to see what he does at Will because that’s his (more) natural fit. He’s terrible at reads and can be looked off by 4th string QBs over the middle. He’s also not a leader, which is almost a demand as a NFL MLB. I know I will not miss him as he has been the single most divisive player on the team that I can recall. Nobody ever says “The most popular guy on the team is the backup Mike…”, right? Well this guy, through his frustrating waste of god-given talent, had me on the ropes, clamoring for Tyrel freakin Dodson to come in and fill the right gap.

I think Doyle,Von & Phillips all start on PUP. I think Ike or Broeker  make 53. I think Ray or a FA DE make 53. Dean Marlowe won’t make 53. Another Wr could be added 😉

DE still makes me nervous. We need a healthy Von and Rousseau to take another step.

Having Ford in the middle will help the pass rush but a lot of “show me” guys

Yeah once Von exited last season the remaining cast of characters simply disappeared.  After Milano, someone must step up as our #2 LB.  No clue who that's going to be. We'll see if Gabe becomes "contract year" motivated?

I have it the exact same way on the 53, but with a 9th OL (either Broeker or Boettger) instead of a 5th Safety.

Either Hamlin is ready and Marlowe goes to the PS or Hamlin isn't, he goes to a designated list, and Marlowe is the 4th Safety. 5 Safeties for 2 positions and 8 OL for 5 positions doesn't add up to me.

For the Practice Squad, Doyle will go to PUP instead opening up a spot for Zach Davidson. I also like Jordan Mims over Isaiah Bowser and Jalen Wayne over one of the WR's. But we'll have to wait to the Pre-Season to see that play out.

Doyle will go to PUP. Phillips had rotator cuff surgery at the end of February. At most, he'll need 6 months. He'll be ready for the start of the year.

Von will not go to PUP. His ACL injury and surgery were not to the full extent of Tre's. He and Beane have said on multiple occasions that they expect to have him for up to the entire year. Von has said at most he'll miss a game or two. Their moves or lack thereof at the position go hand in hand with those sentiments. There's no way they're going to shut him down until Week 7 at the minimum.

I'm not.  Just get someone in there who can cover.   Against the top 5 teams, Josh will need to score 40+ even if f-ing Dick Butkus was MLB.   Glad the offense is far better this year.

I was really torn about the OL. I remember that they traded to get Marlowe last year, plus just signing him, makes me think he makes the roster. I do also agree that there will be some shuffling at the beginning of the year with the PUP and other potential injuries, so there’s definitely room to work around that.

I had a few UDFA guys come in and show enough to make the cut. Mims is likely to make the PS over Bowser but I thought maybe with them signing him so soon into Rookie Tryouts that maybe he really showed something, so I gave him the nod. Same with Wayne vs Johnson. I’ve got a funny feeling Shavers makes it regardless.

If there are any other surprise signings or trades this changes things, but overall I like the roster. LB is our weakest position I think.

I think LB will be fine and hopefully I am right.  It could easily be the weak link.  Looking at the CB's was what looks like the biggest, glaring need to me, but, could be fine.  Overall, I think Beane did a fantastic job on this roster and it is the best it has ever been (no pun intended).

I think we have a strong roster with question marks at LB, CB and OL.  Injuries could speed up the question marks.

We have been above average health wise with the Beane/McDermott era with the exception of last year.  I am hoping to get back to the above average health years.

Overall, I agree without digging deep.  I think we take another OL to make 9 and not sure on who the cut would be.  Time, camp, injuries up to the beginning of the season usually sort out the bottom of the roster.

Some thoughts in no particular order...

- Hamlin ok to play?  Marlowe I like, but, the Bills didn't dress him or play him much last year.  4 or 5 safeties?  With LB a question mark, we could roll with 5 safeties

- if Settle doesn't show better in camp does he deserve a roster spot?  With Phillips injury history, probably need to keep Settle

- if the young kids show well on ST's do we cut Neal or Matakevitch?  Neal frees up a decent amount of cap to use to plug a hole we discover before the season starts.  Neal can also help with the LB issue due to Nickel

- Benford to safety?  We will see as the off season progresses.  That changes the CB and S rooms

- 9 OL minimum, maybe 10

- Quinton Morris should make the roster.  I don't know why we didn't use him more last year

Agree on your PUP list.  I believe they will keep Morris as TE3.

I think and hope Ray or another FA DE makes the 53.  Ray on the PS would also mean he had a good camp and could be serviceable.  I think Siran Neal's cap hit and roster spot will go to the DL at some point before the season starts.  If he is on the team, fine.  If not we have upgraded our roster.
