So, for our defensive coach, in our defensive scheme, we need the following:

Heavy investment on the DL 8-9 man rotation

A top tier investment at MLB

Investment at both Safety spots

Investment at Nickel CB

Were told all those positions are super important in McD’s scheme.

Nevermind the investment we’ve made at the other LB spot and both outside corners.

Insanity.  LB at 27 becomes more and more revolting to me every day closer to the draft.

Personally, I disagree with some of the defensive philosophy.  I think the rotation and DL investment is out of whack and poor choices were made there (Basham and Epenesa for example). I also think with McD and his ability to coach up DB'S we don't need a high investment at Saftey either. I do think, LB, OCB and Nickle should be heavily invested in based on our scheme.

Jack Campbell?   So in a league built upon speed, in a D that stresses speed, at a spot where often only 2 guys are playing, the idea is to go with a throwback slow LB?  This guy maybe makes sense in a 3-4 system, where fast OLBs can mask his inability to cover ground, but with a team whose base is a modified nickel this just doesn’t make sense.

This says different.

Zay Flowers?!  So a cross between Zay Jones and Erik Flowers?  Hard pass.

What if his name was Erik Jones?

I rather have Trenton Simpson and his 4:43 speed that can cover and blitz

What's Simpson's middle name?

Sorry, I don't have the restraint of@Dr. Who)

Hmmmm...can't say for sure, but must say it doesn't give me the same visceral reaction.

Agree on Zay Flowers vs Erik Jones... however I'm a bit alarmed by this Simpson guy... especially with Ford Motor Company's recent re-issue of the Bronco nameplate.

Could just be me but I don’t care who it is, as long as they actually play the guy all season long, a first rounder who isn’t starting is a wasted pick.

2017 - T. White - full time starter his rookie year.

2018 - Josh Allen - started after the regime saw Peterman for one half in a regular season game.

2018  - Tremaine Edmunds - full time starter his rookie year.

2019 - Ed Oliver - saw about half of the snaps in the defensive line rotation.

2021 - Greg Rousseau - saw about half of the snaps in the defensive line rotation.

Elam appears to be the outlier.

I stated the obvious, you appear to agree then…,

Gotta say this is a moronic comment. Do stop watches run slower in Iowa?  Do rulers measure differently in Iowa?

This guy has a good 40 time and elite explosion numbers.

Im not saying this guy is as good as Brian Urlacher, but he’s similar size with BETTER testing numbers.

Note—Im not making this comp because they’re both white guys. Im making this comp because they are both tall athletic MLB, and Urlacher was the prototype for ideal MLB in a Cover 2.

The main measurement for LB is football smarts. Taking tackle angles and shedding blocks, I think.

I'm saying that expecting them to not draft a player in the first round that will be a full time starter is unlikely given their draft history in the first round based off your comment.
