Josh Allen Era - Ch. 1 - "Frazier-Edmunds Defense" is Complete, what will define the next chapter?

The first Chapter of the Josh Allen era had some great successes, annual playoff appearances, a championship appearance, and some moments of dominance.  The defining feature of the rest of the team was the emphasis on the Frazier-Edmunds defense scheme.  This chapter is completly closed with today's signing of  Edmunds by the Bears.

As we being Josh Allen Era - Chapter 2, what will be the Bills primary emphasis be to get better results in Chapter 2, than Chapter 1.  I was not a huge Frazier or Edmunds fan, but they provided the teams most recognizable elements (aside from Josh himself) ?

I think you are going to a see a defense that takes more risks cause the Bills have a high octane offense they can afford to gamble knowing if they give up a big play it isn’t the end of the world…that and Boogie Basham leading the league in sacks…that league might be the XFL but still

Aggressive/more risky defense to force some key sacks or turnovers has been 2 years in the waiting.  It's the key to slowing down Mahomes/Burrow led offenses.

Add some firepower to the offense, and some speed at S.  Elam in year 2, Tre back healthy, and switch to a dime defense to get more speed on 3rd downs (depending what we do with LB position, and would require likely drafting another slot corner).

Thank god that chapter is closed. It was awful having the number 1 defense back to back.

this next chapter is going to be “Josh, you have a ton of money so need to carry the team”

Dang, sounds like the same title as the previous chapter.

How did that number 1 D do the last three years in the playoffs?  Let's put this to rest huh? 🙄

So the other 17 games don’t count? Also, lot of factors, especially this year.

They, of course, do… that said, the playoffs are what matter and it’s been painfully obvious that the defense was constantly overrated and/or not able to perform when it matters.

Also, for all the regular season success, how many 1 seeds?

The defense, for all it’s investment, let us down.   Im glad we seem to be turning the page on that group.

Dude, so it was the defense’s fault when they scored like 3 points in Jacksonville? It’s a team game and we had the number 1 defense 2 years in a row. 100% are the reason for the KC loss but far often than not, they were really good.

do you think we will have a better defense next year?

Statistically?  Nope.  Also don’t care.

Looking forward to Beane, hopefully using that earmarked Edmunds money to help Josh Allen.

Also hoping we trade Oliver to better allocate his 10M.

That still leaves enough talent to be a middle of the pack Defense (assuming McDermott earns his keep as a Defensive HC) and then when Von gets back in the swing of things, we have our big playmaker in the post season.

We weren’t the #1 defense ever when it mattered at the end and Josh has been carrying the team. Are you watching games or reading the stat sheets?

I think losing edmunds is gonna hurt because we are going to miss his best years and it’s gonna be what coulda been. But I believe this defense needs a scheme change they were easily picked apart by a superior coach time and again.

Be careful what you wish for because the Buffalo Bills have a lot of holes now and I could see the Buffalo Bills completely missing the playoffs next season than bye, bye Sean McDermott than if the Bills still continue to decline bye, bye Stefon Diggs. The only Buffalo Bills player safe regardless what happens in the next few years is QB Josh Allen because PSE needs him to be the face of the Bills franchise to transition the Bills into sky high ticket prices along with huge PSL’s along with $100 parking spots in the new Bills stadium enjoy the Bills village control tailgates for the $100 dollars if I had to guess. It will be fun but the Bills tailgaters are going to get some real surprises from PSE new “Haunted House”. That is what BSF is calling the new Bills stadium the “Haunted House” it’s going to scare a lot of Bills fans the prices. It’s coming just wait so many Bills fans are going to feel foolish for not asking more than what they are going to get in the new Bills stadium even though they will pay like any other NFL around the country and get way less have fun at the new “Haunted House” in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo
