well. that was defiantly a fake oliver. Shaime on Buf News Editors for falling for it lol

With amount of cutbacks in media they cannot afford a fact checker.

I worked part time with Buffalo Courier Express and I remember a very loud argument between senior editor and reporter about how his two sources were not sufficient since both seem to be getting information from same source.  That will never happen today.

Bills are probably telling him: "Show us some consistency week to week".

He either plays like a top end DT in the NFL or like a replacement level player and almost nothing in between.  Gotta be far more consistent than he is and increase his floor level of play significantly.

This is his week to week valuation on OverTheCap based on his play week to week and it pretty much sums up with a picture Oliver's problem.  We know he can take over the game at times like he did in Detroit on Thanksgiving.  We also know he can be completely unseen in games as well. Can't have those type of grand canyon sized differences between your best and worst games.

This may be the best way to convey the true narrative about Ed that words fail to do or that those enamored with him are impervious to.  Well done.  Really well done with this graph.

Anytime someone can quickly and vividly identify the 3 games a player played above expectations in (of the 14 played they played in a season) a problem exists and should be a clue they are not worth big money.

Ed is a $5.5m / yr type player at best.  The $10m+ slotted to him this year is criminal and warrants a trade IMO.  A 5th would be reasonable, I would take a 7th and would hail Beane a wizard if he could get a 3rd.

Finally, of all years this would be the year we need massive IDL who can penetrate consistently understanding we will have a new-to-the system LB replacing Edmunds.  The play charted above of Ed would likely put too much pressure on our LB during the adjustment period (new captain, play caller, etc).

Trade him for a 3rd. Guy is just average and slow for his size.

AMEN...and too frigging small at the NFL level.

I would not even look at guys smaller than like a natural 325 at that position.

Tell him "make a wall over both A gaps and don't get moved" and "occupy at least 2 of the guards and center"...and that's all he needs to do.  The other 10 on D will take care of the rest.

LOTS of athletes at the major league professional level can get it done now and again.

CONSISTENCY is the mark of the professional--and the really good player.

Get this guy out of town.

Even Brandin Bryant has had games where he looked great for us.   Doesn’t mean he’s worth a big time contract.

Oliver is the guy that I just don’t understand where podcasters I respect like Joe Marino, constantly get defensive over … “Well, you traded him, what’s the plan!?”  … the plan for what?.. a guy who only plays above average when healthy and everyone around him is healthy?  Draft a DT on Day 2.. that’s my plan.

It’s too bad I was excited when he fell to us in the draft.  Hoped he had the potential to be a Warren Sapp/John Randle 3T.  Just hasn’t come close to a top 10 pick.  Wish he’d had a hulking Pat Williams or Ted Washington next to him at 1T when he arrived.  Star not playing early on and not playing well when he did probably affected Oliver’s play.

Regardless of playing out of position early on, it seems very clear that he’s not the guy McBeanr thought he was.  He flashed later but he wasn’t nearly worthy of a 10th pick.  Wish him the best.
