Big Turk Posted December 3, 2022 Share Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) Once again...USA looking dangerous until they get near or inside the 18 yard box and then lose possession with a bad pass or cross without even getting a shot off. Spacing seems off...too many players too close together bringing more defenders near them leaving no space to work. As my Dad used to tell me while watching my games when I was 8 or 9, they look like a bunch of grapes. They need to be better there. This isn't going to get it done against the Netherlands who are patiently waiting for counterattack opportunities to use the USA's aggression against them. Pulisic again with a terrible pass to Adams that forces him out of the box into no man's land. USA has controlled play, they just can't finish. Looking dangeorus until they get into the 18 yard box. They have been the better, more dangerous team but find themselves down 2-0 due to lack of finish and poor spacing on the attack leading to no real opportunities. Netherlands burying their chances. As with every World Cup, by the time you get to the Quarterfinals, all the exotic stories go away and it's the usual suspects. The Netherlands and Argentina, France and England. It will be Brazil and either Croatia or Japan (there's your remaining bit of colorful nuance.) Then probably Spain and Portugal. The best Euros and the best of S. America. However, it was embarrassing how inept they were at converting penalties. Their coach had even personally selected the first three penalty-takers because he trusted them most.
