Encouraged a tight grip of the shoe lace but was a brutal way to lose. Stampsy had to be agreed on by both gladiators before the start of the match. There was hell on if stampsy was used when not agreed on and tended to lead to various Chinese burns and wedgies. Decades on I’m safe to say I was one for dipping my conker in vinegar.
