Remember too that Ike Boettger is on IR.  When he comes back, likely whoever takes Cody's spot will be demoted.

Boettger is coming off a torn achilles, I honestly doubt he'll play again. Very few linemen have played again after that injury, and the ones that did were shadows of their old self.

With Ford gone & Mancz possibly out long term, I suspect we'll be looking at cuts for a replacement OG.

There goes one of the whipping boys.
Wish him the best in the desert.

Running out of players to hate for some of y’all.

So who is left on the message board hate list?
Edmunds still in the lead, by a lot

OJ Howard I see is somehow on the list without seeing a regular season snap yet.

Moss gaining some steam

Taiwan and Kumerow for sure if they make the team

Elam reserving a spot for later in the season?
Epenesa is a trendy name

Yeah and Edmunds running into Milano trying to tackle Boone only solidified that lead.

Disappointing return for a 2nd round pick.

This isn't "robbery"

The Bills spent an early 2nd round pick on him. Overall, this was a loss. But that's how it goes sometimes in the NFL. They can't all be success stories.

You’re not looking at this the right way.

Yes, he was a 2nd round pick and we figured out that he’s not good enough to start pretty quickly. It was a miss and every GM misses.

Every GM doesn’t, however, get value back for their missed picks. Usually, you just have to cut guys when you miss.

That makes this a win.

No one is saying Beane isn't doing a great job.  But the "Beane is a wizard" angle is a bit much in this particular case since he traded up in the second to get him.

Correct; let’s save “wizard” for cases like me - divorcing my wife that was 8 years older than me and marrying my current wife who is 8 years younger.

Edmunds deserves the criticism.
I also hate Bass’ eye black.

Can't hit on all your draft picks. Ford has been a disappointment for sure.

But good on Beane for getting something in return and moving on instead of stubbornly holding on to a failed draft pick.

I mean AJ does deserve the criticism he gets. Two years and 2.5 sacks for a "Pass Rushing" DE is not ideal.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I think this locks in Bobby Hart's roster spot as a backup guard. He has apparently looked pretty good at that spot this offseason.

Having a guy who can at least be serviceable at guard and tackle is highly valuable and may mean that we can keep an extra D-lineman active.

In fairness, he was drafted in the second round (after moving up two spots) with hopes of becoming a tackle.  He ended up being a below-average guard.  I don't think this was from any kind of a lack in effort.  The kid was simply over-drafted.  It happens.  Beane is still a phenomenal GM.  But he whiffed on Ford.

Also something missed in all this is that yes Ford is a clear miss now in retrospect but at the time I don't remember anyone really thinking him as a player was a bad pick at the time.

Meh. Based on Dawkins' comments on Saturday I think some of it may well be down to lack of effort and professionalism from Cody. Though no doubt it wasn't a good pick.
