No blinders here.  I dislike our crazies just as much as your sides generally.   I simply recognize them as an extremely vocal minority.

The gender psychos, nutjob feminists, they can all jump off a bridge for all I care.  I want what the Nordic countries have or as close to it as we can manage with hopefully slightly lower taxes.  Improve our education and our country will thrive.

The nordic countries are perfect for those who embrace mediocrity. That said liberals wouldn’t really enjoy it because of the strong family centric values that underpin the culture and total lack of diversity.

Mediocrity?  Generally they have the happiest people (  according to polls i assume are somewhat accurate) and are nearly all at the top education wise.  I wouldn't characterize that as mediocre.

Would you characterize them as completely different from the United States?

So why are they so happy? What’s the secret?

One thing I've noticed about those countries, and though no expert I've been to Stockholm many times. is that they have a very homogeneous  population up until now.

Nowhere near the cultural diversity that exists in Western European countries or the US.

Political persuasion is all scientifically pre determined by personality and temperament, imo…

Philosophically, the Left represents the Feminine/Chaos/Emotion, while the Right represents the Masculine/Order/Logic…

These two sides are perfectly portrayed in the Asian concept of the “Yin and Yang” duality of the universe , and are eternally destined to battle eachother for supremacy til the end of time- or at least until humans evolve enough to realize that both sides are needed on a balanced level…

A majority of either side will always bring an imbalance to civilization, ultimately leading to its downfall…👍

This whole masculine narrative from the right just further drives home the fact that these nut jobs are so freakn insecure and pathetic.

Thanks….I’d agree that’s a significant factor. And, their women are generally really good looking….there’s that too!

Have you ever been there? If you’re happy with the same thing as everyone else no matter how hard you work and talented you are then you are happy and most likely not one of the hard working talented ones. therefore everyone is average ie mediocrity. If that suits you you should move there.  If you aren’t that well traveled or willing to move there, go live in an ikea for a week. It the high end low end and middle of the road example of Nordic life.

My wife and her family lived in Norway for a few years.  I just asked her why they are so happy.  She says that’s not really the case.  She said they are very quiet and actually dour. She said some of it has to with their socialist government.  Almost to the point of “you will be happy!!”   She also agreed with the homogeneous nature of their society.  And back to socialism.  I would assume it’s easy happy when you don’t have the pressure to be successful. It’s a huge pressure pot here and why so many snap.  But the pressure has created the most successful and innovative people and companies the world has ever seen and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

And also at the same time the consequence of not trying to be successful isn’t as lavish here in the us as it is in socialist utopia.

Which is why I assert driven people who want to try and be successful would consider the Nordic countries hell on earth.

I've spent years over most of Europe so I'd say I'm well traveled.  To put them in a box and say they're all happy for the same reason is ignorant.  They like their government by and large.  Can any of us say the same?

Wait….you’re saying you don’t like our government? You might want to take that post down, or at least don’t answer the door for the next few days.

Why?  Brown shirts gonna beat my door down when I get home?

Our 2 party system blows.  Both parties are at their lowest points in forever.  We have a mummy for a president and a crook owns the other.  Cool.  No, right now things suck.   Less than the last term but still.

I dont get the not trying to be successful part.  That's an individual trait.  I don't think it's fair at all to say people in those places aren't as ambitious.

You’re attacking your own assertion 😂

I’ve lived and traveled in Europe and there is a reason ambitious people end up in this country.  When achievement isn’t rewarded but instead stifled via redistribution you get mediocrity. That’s my real life observation.

Complacency can be bliss for some.

i highly encourage anyone wanting to live in that type of socialist construct to move there please!

I personally am very happy my choices and hard work have afforded me and my family a better lifestyle than the average Scandinavian and or American.

Agreed.  But you don’t have to move halfway across the planet to see that. We’ve all experienced it in our daily lives. Most people know it to be absolutely true after completing their first ‘group’ project in the fifth grade.

Saying ambitious people end up here you know is somewhat outrageous.   Some do some don't.  There are plenty of ultra ambitious  that care nothing for the US.  I think a lot end up here more for comfort/cultural reasons than ambition as well.

My assertion isn't we should be just like them.  My assertion is we should try and emulate the things they are doing really well that we aren't.   Education first and foremost followed by healthcare.   They generally pay high taxes.  We can pay less (than them) and get most of the benefits they enjoy.  There's no reason for us to be so far behind in these areas.

I've operated a business in South America, and I can state without reservation that there a massive impediments that don't exist in the US.

Further, the "ambitious" people I established friendships with talked about it and dealt with it all the time.

Eventually, it just got too hard.
