Richie retires

Richie reminds me of the benefit sports for kids with a behavioral problem. Maybe his adulting runway allowed him to out run it. Many 17-22 yr old boys get into a little funk, not all find a + diversion

He was our best lineman when here, a pro bowl guard year after year, and a leader of that group.

 

Talented, consistent, relentless.

 

Always liked the irony of his last name, as one of the most conspicuous people around.

Pretty much he felt in any other walk or aspect of life his full sympathy would be with Martin.  But in the NFL it's kind of its own beast and he thought Richie was just trying to "toughen him" up so to speak.  

 

I think there's something too that.  I don't actually think Richie disliked him per say.  That's just him expressing himself in his way.  Not that I particularly like the Richie approach just sayin'.  

I have a friend from my taekwondo days who acted with his friends a lot like Incognito did with Martin.  He didn’t make anything close to the money that Incognito made, but he was good enough to be in the TKD HOF.  So both were very high level athletes.  He’d have done anything for his close friends. But if you weren’t in that small group, then you meant nothing to him.  And I mean nothing.  But at his core he was always a really good guy.  He’s mellowed over the years too.  He wound up doing a bunch of charity stuff with NFL guys he got to know and eventually got married.  So sometimes those guys do change.

That’s how I was as a kid. Beyond crazy. Good thing things started to make sense for me later in life as an adult and I became a Born Again.

 

God first and then the nuclear family. It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.

I read all of it and it all came off as a loving big brother trying to help a homie develop the tools needed to succeed.

You can't be a timid OL. Can't believe Martin ever got drafted that high. You'd think that his softness would've stuck out in pre-draft process
