I’m curious as to your definition of inclusive. And exactly which societies are more inclusive than ours. Your example of Japan is a joke. It’s next to impossible for a non-native Japanese to become a citizen of Japan. I have a friend whose mom is Japanese, and has worked in Japan for >30 years. He cannot become a Japanese citizen. Japan is one of the most homogeneous societies on earth.

For me personally, it has everything to do with the venue where he protested. He was on the job, and in uniform. He was not representing his employer or team. He was an unauthorized distraction, and he knew it. He has every right to protest, but he had to be ready to face those consequences. I could not have taken a stand like that at work without being shown the door. 

 

So, as far as pissing on anyone, speak for yourself, because you do NOT speak for me. 

 

EDIT: Oh, and Warren Sapp is an idiot, but it doesn’t mean he’s wrong here.

Sapp back in the day was a beast, but now is just a fat dude who lost most of his $$$ gambling looking for attention.

To say the king of INTS is better than someone who actually got to a SB and still keeps himself in shape is just silly.  

I was never a big CK fan as a player but I respect his activism and he was a better player than many.

I view things much differently. You don’t have to love everything about America or leave. I think true patriotic Americans don’t just leave the country because they don’t like something about it. They work to make American a better place.

 

I think that is precisely what makes America so great. History is filled with patriotic Americans who worked to make America a better country.

Would you have told Martin Luther king jr or Susan B. Anthony to “love it or leave”? Of course not, right? They fought (peacefully) to make America a better place for all Americans.
 

Americans fought to end Slavery. Fought for Civil rights. For Women’s rights. Workers rights. Equality. Voting rights (Etc). 

 

 

Just to be clear, I am not talking about Kaepernick and I’m definitely not comparing him to MLK jr or Susan b Anthony. I am also not saying that america isn’t a great country (it is). I am just addressing the “love it or leave it” comment/mentality.

There are many teams who would do just about anything to get a good QB, including breaking the rules, signing convicted felons, etc.

 

The issue is not just his "activism", it's that he also is not a good QB.

Not a Kaepernick apologist by any means and I wouldn't doubt if he's awful now, but there are slowly emerging counter arguments to this, and a general sense of it being Warren Sapp trying to regain relevancy. Granted, that's only from Kaep's agent and Raiders talking heads so far, but it's not as if Sapp is the most trusted source in media. Didn't he pretty much fade from view entirely after that prostitution thing? I don't really know why everybody thinks Sapp has credible inside info all of the sudden as if he's a regular provider of breaking news

I dont understand why people forget this. I feel like so many people only think of his super bowl run and then he magically lost his job immediately after that because of protesting. I live in California, niner fans were DONE with him. I remember Jerry Rice even said he needs to be benched.  He was just not a good qb.

Opinions of Sapp aside, it is weird that Kaepernick is still relying on these shadowy pro workouts to propel him back into the NFL as if he's some kind of legendary figure. There are numerous other leagues now and it's been 6 years bro. Even diehards who think he got blackballed have to be skeptical simply because it's been 6 years bro. Swallow some pride and go demolish Kyle Sloter and Paxton Lynch in the USFL, guys who are also still sniffing around a chance in the NFL and are legitimately your competition at this point. I can't think of an easier way to raise some eyebrows and win more public support. Instead its these clandestine workouts that only 3 people and apparently zero media are allowed to attend.

There are many who strongly disagree with you, they feel that everyone should stand as a sign of respect to the flag.   Kap used to sit on the bench for the anthem, then he switched to the kneeling which I think was a better move.

 

I have interest in his tryout for the NFL because I felt the narrative that Kap was some elite player that got his career ended short because he chose to protest is simply not true.  The majority of non-football fans believe the guy sacrificed his career for some greater good, when the reality is the guy was a backup QB on his way out of football.   

 

Then he took a huge check from Nike and they ran ads that said Believe in Something, Even if it Means Sacrificing Everything, and the lie got pushed even further.  At that point, I felt there was no chance this guy would ever try to make another NFL roster because it will reveal that he's simply not very good, and he didn't really sacrifice ANYTHING.  In fact, he likely made more money from the kneeling that he would have if he tried to stay in the league and hold a clipboard for a few more years.

 

Nike should run a new Kaep ad that says Believe in Something, Especially if it Makes you Rich.....

 

I really respect the guy for actually trying to play again, even though we all know what the result was going to be.
