Ditto. Out 1st Throwback uni was a MNF game vs. Denver in the 90’s. Because we weren’t allowed to wear white helmets, the red one with a white, grazing buffalo looked hideous. It looked like a flock of geese let loose together overhead.. 🤦‍♂️

It wasn’t that we weren’t allowed to wear white helmets, we chose not to…some say due to the cost. 🤔

A few teams wore different colored helmets that year.

The 90's look would be cool for one game a season. I prefer the white helmet over the red one. The charging Buffalo stands out more off the white helmet.

Totally agree here but seeing Josh and Stefon et al in the 90’s uniforms would just be the bee’s knees.

I totally get the NFL not wanting players to have multiple helmets. And I totally get players liking to wear the same single helmet.

What I don't get is why the rule has been in place for so long and why they added a second helmet. We have been wrapping cars now for a while, can they not wrap a a helmet?

What's the concern here? Serious question

Imagine this helmet with the all reds or all blues. That would be the ultimate fugly look for the Bills.

Treading in those weird GI JOE Islanders jerseys waters with this idea lol please stop, it hurts

I believe it is player fit. Players are super particular so I don’t think the league wants to deviate and risk a new, ill fitting helmet. Kind of like breaking in sneakers before a race so you done get blisters.

at that time all teams indeed were allowed to wear two diff helmets. It also was 75th NFL anniversary and all teams required to make a throwback helmet for two games. One home and one away. Ralph being Ralph was too cheap to pay for 2nd helmet so they just made a white standing bison logo and stuck it on the red helmet and called it a day. Even though it was not a true throwback.

Bills wore home vs Denver on MNF then away at Oilers.

AFAIK, they do use multiple wraps on the same helmet. They only use wraps for the logos though. So, for example, the same standard white helmet is used for the base Bills helmet as well as the throwback standing Buffalo logo helmet. They just can’t re-wrap an entire helmet in a entirely different color, hence that’s why the red helmet could not be used until this coming season (need two helmets.)

all helmets could be wrapped. NCAA does it. NFL just chooses not to.

NFL logos on helmet are not wraps. They are vinyl die cut thick decals. Very rubbery and conform to shape of helmet with a little blow dryer heat.

I am going to pretend to not care but I am going to secretly love watching a game with the old cherry helmets. Combining the two greatest eras in this teams history for a game will amazing. I will however pretend to be disinterested to look cool though…uh oh did I just post this out loud?!

just to be clear on this NFL change. The alternate helmet and uni does not need to be a previous historically accurate uni helmet previously worn during team history.

It can be any color or uni. As long as it is a team color.

So Bills have major options: Grey and Detroit Blue from first two years / bright royal and scarlet from 60's / darker Royal due to dark royal facemask of the 80's / muted royal(due to poly material uni) and scarlet from SB era /  Bledsoe era Navy, Royal, Nickel Grey, Scarlet /  current Royal, Scarlet and almost black outlines on stripe lettering /

Bills could just change the current helmet style by only changing helmet color to red and use all same decals.

Or could use 90's red helmet with those stripes and larger Logo of SB era and keep current uni. Or change uni also to SB era.

orrrr could roll out an all blue royal helmet or all grey helmet or all Navy helmet?????? with any kind of matching uni imaginable. lol

our current uniforms are pretty much throwbacks except for logo on helmet. Would like to see rest of division got back to 70s style uniforms. Current patriots uniform blows and old reds are good. Jets had originals years ago and went to current crap.

I would also add with Miami that the Dolphin on the side of the helmet needs to go back to what is was during the Griese /Marino years.

Whatever gets rid of the all reds.  I'll take the Bledsoe/Losman era throwback if that's what it takes.

The all red uniforms look great!  But they don't look like Buffalo Bills uniforms.
