Not a great player but a solid signing.  Our IOL depth is bad and Van Roten likely becomes our first IOL off the bench if Saffold, Bates or Morse gets injured.  Haven’t seen the financials, but I’m happy that we addressed our depth along the IR.  Quessenberry and Van Roten are low key nice depth additions.  Not great players by any means, but likely upgrades over the incumbent depth (Ford, Mancz and Doyle).

He's been discussed here as an option for the Bills quite a few times over the years.........fits the high RAS profile that they have a lot of.

Did not fare well in the drinking contest.   Not leadership material.  Solid backup though.

He fits many important categories:

1)  Athletic:  RAS of 9.31

2)  Smart:  graduated from an Ivy League school

3)  Experienced:  has started 50 NFL games, including 10 last year

4)  Versatile:  plays both C and G

5)  Inexpensive:  just a guess on my part that he signed for at or near the veteran minimum

I won't list it, but I suspect that he's a process guy.  He's had to fight and claw to get into, get back into, and stay in the league.  That takes an element of determination that not all guys have.  He'll have to bust his butt to make and remain on the Bills roster, so I suspect he'll do whatever the team needs him to do.

So this guy could end up being training camp fodder, but he also might be a useful backup OL who can fill the voids left by (a) Boettger's injury, (b) Bates' elevation to a starting G role; and (c) Ford's suckitude.

This is probably to replace Ulmer, who recently retired this week after a long career.

Why would you even post something like this?!

Did he beat up your brother or something?!?!

I don't know what your problem is but you should never be able to post here again!!!!!
