Bills sign former Jets OL

Not a great player but a solid signing.  Our IOL depth is bad and Van Roten likely becomes our first IOL off the bench if Saffold, Bates or Morse gets injured.  Haven’t seen the financials, but I’m happy that we addressed our depth along the IR.  Quessenberry and Van Roten are low key nice depth additions.  Not great players by any means, but likely upgrades over the incumbent depth (Ford, Mancz and Doyle).

PFF ranks him on a par with Saffold, good run blocker, poor pass blocker.

Insurance if Boettger's rehab is behind schedule, or if Bates doesn't produce when named the starter.

Spent two years [2017-2018] at Carolina before the Jets.

Another former Carolina Panther.  Just when you thought we were close to ridding the team of them.

They tried signing him in 2020 also. Beane is persistent.

Competition for Boettger and Ford

Ford is done. This guy replaces Bates as the 3rd IOL. Boettger is going to miss most of the season.
