All signs pointing to Sanders wanting to retire.  Signing him doesn’t seem to be an option.

i agree, I’d rather sign a higher caliber WR than Austin.

Yes, but we’re not deep at WR and we’re broke. So…🤷‍♂️

Can he play OL?? Had to.

Good camp depth especially assuming they’re already giving up on Stevenson.

Or maybe to turn up the heat on Stevenson. It certainly adds serious competition for returning and the last receiver spot.

Old, history of being ineffective and fumbles a lot. His tires have been kicked by 5 other teams. I have no idea what BB sees in him but I guess I'll trust his judgment on this one.  Austin used to be fast so I guess there's that.

Bills have two players with a combined FIVE touchdowns from this 2012 Maryland/WVU game in Morgantown! I was in college at the time so I went to the game. Diggs (his freshman year btw) was unstoppable when they actually threw him the ball and was wondering why they didn't try to get Diggs the ball more.

Diggs was also returning punts/kicks that day (ironically what they probably brought Tavon in for) and he had over 200 all-purpose yards.

LOL. I'm not talking about breaking out. Just contribute would be a start. If he doesn't contribute at all I don't see a spot for him as a specialist only.

what's his specialty?

Although I think it’s a long shot that Austin makes the roster if we keep 7 wr he will likely be the last guy. Not only does he give you a speed/gadget guy to use at the wr position, he can be your PR/KR. The one thing I have not seen mentioned yet is if cook gets injured for a few games Austin can fill his roles as pass catching RB. He started his career at WVU as a running back and has over 150 Carries  in the NFL.

My assumption is the bills keep Singletary, cook, moss at RB so we would not have anyone on the team to fill cooks role if he went out at all during the season.

How’s this guy 31 when he was just drafted like 4 years ago in 2013?

I searched Tavon Austin's age yesterday and a bunch of other WR ages popped up. The most shocking one I saw is that Laquon Treadwell is only 26. By my calculation that means he's been a bust since he was 16.

While I agree that the Bills need a viable returner and that’s what this signing appears to be…

The weird thing is that Austin hasn’t returned kicks since 2017. He only seems to be a punt returner these days.

Signing someone to return kicks and punts makes sense to me. Signing someone who ONLY returns punts — and whose skill set is otherwise redundant with McKenzie’s — is a little strange.

There is most certainly some recency bias but McK looks to me to be a better receiver in Buffalo than Tavon Austin ever was.

I don't really get this one. I think it is a camp body. If anything we could use depth outside. Otherwise I am fine with Crowder and McK inside.

I am still holding out hope for the 2020 Isaiah Hogins to get healthy and make the roster
