SMH at your logic. He has outperformed his contract. How is he an all pro but not even in the top 20 paid for his position? Guess what happens if a player gets a top 5 contract but plays like the 25th best? The are demanded to take a pay cut or risk being cut and making no more money. How is it ok for that to be routine (teams playing hardball to force pay cuts) but players, who are the reason teams make money, can't take a stand when they outplay their contract???

Tired of people who think that just because these players make millions they should be satisfied with being underpaid cause a contract signed years back. Things change! That's why a team will switch up on you real quick...despite the contract...will null and void it quick af of they feel youre underplaying what you're paid! Wheres you post condemning that? No instead your a hypocrite like the average fan who is all for that behavior for the sake of your entertainment and having a better team. You care more about a team winning instead of humans fairly compensated for work. Do you complain when the team rakes in toms of extra money from the team being great yet our players collectively make what the Jags are making?? Make it make sense.

spotrac shows Poyer as the 13th highest paid safety
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/safety/

And over the cap shows him as the 12th highest paid safety:

https://overthecap.com/position/safety/

and you are right, things have changed since he signed the deal. When he signed the deal he was among the top 10 highest paid safeties. Can’t remember exactly where he fell in the top 10. Teams can’t afford to give players a raise every time another player at their position gets more money. and remember, his last contract wasn’t up at the time the Bills gave him this newest deal. The bills gave him a big raise anyway.

I agree that he deserves an extension and I hope it works out and he gets one in Buffalo. I’d love to keep him around beyond this season. But if he’s looking for top 5 safety money it’s not happening in Buffalo. They don’t have the cap space for a deal like that, especially with important extensions on the horizon for younger players.

Players under contract who choose to skip voluntary workouts just because they have not received a new contract of their liking, can go pound salt.

I’m looking at you Poyer.

Got no problem with Poyer opting out while he is looking for a new contract.  If he got injured that would impact the ability to get a deal done.  Once mandatory sessions begin then Poyer has to show up.

Let’s put that video side-by-side up against Tua’s duck to Hill. It like they are not playing the same game, but ya know, all signs are pointing towards Tua breaking out this year. LOL🤪

In 2017 when the Bills shockingly gave him starting safety money........similar to what an actual in-demand free agent named Micah Hyde got from the Bills........despite Poyer being an injury prone journeyman who had just missed 10 games the prior year.............were you angry at Poyer for getting too much money?

Of course you weren't..........the team offered it so he took it whether he had deserved it or not.

That's the way it goes with contracts.

Sometimes players get money in free agency that they didn't earn.........and sometimes they earn money that they don't get because they've signed away leverage in exchange for security and guaranteed dough in real time.

Now if Poyer were both younger and played a premium position maybe he'd have more leverage...........but he's not and he doesn't.

Tommy Doyle working inside at guard. I mentioned it as a possibility in February. The more you can do for versatility the better. He could become a very valuable piece.

Yeah pretty exciting to hear. A lot of reports that he is looking really good out there so far. Could be big for us if he secures the swing tackle and also can play inside if injuries happen. Great to hear so far, I’m a Tommy Doyle fan.

Hopefully, but I mean it's OTAs with no pads, can't really put to much weight to it yet.
