Rand Paul Blocks Aid To Ukraine

Recommended Posts

This guy is such an attention starved putz he will literally put lives on the line, slowing down much needed aid to a nation being threatened with total destruction.

(CNN)In a rare showing of public unity, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell took to the Senate floor to press for quick passage of a $40 billion aid bill for Ukraine but were blocked by GOP Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky who is demanding changes to the legislation.

How does

All I requested is an amendment to be included in the final bill that allows for the Inspector General to oversee how funds are spent.

square with

Passing this bill brings the total we’ve sent to Ukraine to nearly $54 billion over the course of two months. It’s threatening our own national security, and it’s frankly a slap in the face to millions of taxpayers who are struggling to buy gas, groceries, and find baby formula.

That Rand Paul sure is a far right nut case.

How dare he ask for oversight on spending $40 billion! I mean that might prevent the Big Guy getting his 10%

Hard not to get the impression part of the agenda of a new MGAG congress would be to reverse our foreign policy of containing the dictators and begin the process started under Trump to trying and divide the free nations. DR scum is all in for that

I'm certain that both of these posts address in detail why that it's a bad idea to request oversight on spending $40 billion of taxpayer dollars.

They also probably say nothing about Trump either.

I expected this hand waiving to be about him blocking the aid because Ukraine is not our problem, but even the CNN article said

The change Paul is seeking would create a special inspector general to oversee how the Ukraine military aid is spent. Members from both parties broadly agree with that notion, but forcing a change to the bill at this stage would be very time consuming and would slow getting the needed aid to Ukraine.

it’s very time consuming to make sure someone is accountable for the spending?

WTF is wrong with these people? Why isn’t that a hard requirement of any new spending bill????

Giving weapons of war to a country that has had many issues with corruption while not having oversight is a threat to national security.

People are pissed off because we keep spending money like drunken sailors while inflation is going wild.

People are pissed because the government is bending over backwards to help Ukraine, but are slow as hell to address the formula shortage.

If it wasn';t that it would just be another excuse. His reasoning is just a fig leaf.

But Rand Paul Bad!

As with all things Ukraine the standard 10% for "the big guy"?  The rest to the bottom lines of Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Textron, Boeing, etc., with a slice going to Senate campaign coffers.

So happy we have those corporations! They are really excellent

This status quo stuff needs to end, we either get fully involved or we get out. The chances of Ukraine winning without intervention is very small and at that point our weapons get turned against us. Sending $40 billion without oversight is the most political answer to what is happening.

You seem to be salivating at the thought of keeping that war going. Maybe Putin and you ain't so different, with your murderous fantasy's.

You seem to be good with paying for weapons that are gonna be killing a whole lot of people. As long as you aren't pulling the trigger though, you're good, right?
