Totally agree, I dont think many people realize yet what defenses will have to do on passing downs with cook on the feild. If cook plays to his potential, LBs now have to worry about josh scrambling and either letting cook get behind them or make an open feild tackle on cook on a simple dumpoff or screen. Just another thing defenses have to worry about.

Thought about choosing Elam, but CBs just don't do much for me personally. I like RBs.

Elam if he develops quickly both short term (Tre White may start season on PUP list) and long term (having two dependable outside CB's will take pressure off our safeties who may be replaced within the next year or two).

Elam by far is the best, because he’s a he first rounder.  Dude will be starting.

 

My favorite outside of Elam is Shakir.  Feel this guy has all the tools to be a starter.  Looking forward to his development.  
 

Next fav would be Bernard.   Feel this is a sneaky good pick.  Loved his presser.

 

One that I got way too excited about?  Araiza.

Very happy with both of the first two picks, but have to go with Shakir.  Its always sweeter when you feel like you really swiped someone with a later round pick.  We'll see how it turns out!

Benford from Villanova, no doubt. He would have been a fine pick in round 2, if not a top 10 overall selection.

I will admit that I wasn't originally very excited about Cook, but he is essentially a receiver with the ability to run the ball rather than vice-versa.  He has great speed and quickness with very good hands.  While Breece Hall was touted as a good receiving back, I think Cook is a considerably better receiver.  

 

Shakir in the 5th was a nice pick, but how many slot WRs do they need?  They have Crowder as the starter and McKenzie showed a major flash at the spot vs. NE. They say Shakir can play outside, but better in the slot.  They did need receiving talent and missed out on the outside WRs, so he was a nice "get".

 

Nobody asked, but my least favorite was Terrel Bernard.  Not because they didn't need LB depth or even because of the player himself.  My disappointment was just using a 3rd rounder on such an undersized LB.  Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle and have drafted the next Matt Milano, but if not, they likely picked a special teams ace and sub-package LB at the end of round 3.  I'm usually the one trying to emphasize that the hit-rate for finding starters in the 3rd is maybe 25%, so maybe in that light this isn't a bad pick.

 

I like that they took a shot on Matt Araiza, but it will not surprise me if he doesn't beat out Haack.  Haack was horrible last season, but has had a good career before that.  Araiza has a very strong leg, but he has to learn how to be a pro punter - show that he can get good hang time, punt directionally and pin opponents inside their 20.  It isn't enough to just boom long, low punts that can be returned.  Excited to see what he can become, but not a sure thing at all.  

Bernard will get a shot at the "big nickel" role imho.

Elam, and it is not close.  (1) We needed a CB badly, (2) CB is literally the only position on the team where a rookie can step right in and start week 1, (3) The Bills apparently saw Elam as significantly better than their other options considering the trade-up.  Seems like a perfect selection.  Also, this pick allowed the team to do whatever it wanted the rest of the draft.

 

Overall, I thought we had a pretty good draft.  I liked most of our picks, and they all made sense.  The Elam pick was not only good, but it was also really sort of necessary, so it goes on a higher level for me.

We needed another stud CB across from Tre, and now we have one.  Add to that the fact that Elam seems like he will fit our culture perfectly? Easy favorite for me, and that is how I voted.  That being said, I watch a lot of Georgia games, and I am thrilled to have James Cook in this Offense. I winderered throughout the draft process, why he wasn't getting more attention. I am very happy with this draft!

Elam with a caveat.  If we don't play more press this year, I'll hate the pick because there was then no reason to trade up for him given the other CBs left on the board.  Gordon is also good in press, but Elam is more physical/better.

1.  Those were the two I was between.  Shakir is a better value pick, but I think Elam, if properly used, can be a stud.  

 

2.  It's not a regular punter, the dude kicks it 80+ yards.  Our fans are the best, we love great players at all positions equally!

Literally every post draft analyses has praised Shakir as one of the best WR value steals of the draft. Most liked Elam, but there weren't too many raves about him. Most have been tepid about Bernard due to size and arm stats. ESPN and The Atlantic thought he was 4th/5th round material. Many thought Cook was a good fit for the Bills because of his receiving skills, but not a true Bell Cow RB, and not a threat to Singletary or Moss. Bills overall average was a solid B grade on the 11 sites I reviewed, which is pretty good considering their position.
