Rd 3, Pick 89 (25): LB Terrell Bernard, Baylor

It's a Belichickian reach, in that there was trusted insider intel on the prospect (his college coach and McD are tight), and the team is therefore confident in the fit. (The traits are there, too.)

Again, while it doesn't maximize draft value, nabbing Logan Mankins at the end of rd 1 to the ridicule of everyone on the outside, worked out pretty well for BB back when. (And of course Brady is a HUGE part of that. Luckily, we've got a guy, too.)

Welcome to Buffalo Terrell Bernard - I hope you have a recipe for Crow.

Can see him in a Milano/ Neal role.

Also if he can replace Matakevitch on ST that clears up 2.5 Million

He does play fast and has a sh!t ton of instinct. Put his football processor in Edmunds and you have a beast

This, IMO, is the type of hybrid player in McD’s defense that prevents 13s from happening.

You don't need a 13sec specialist

The proper defensive playcalling prevents that garbage

Welcome Bernard

I hope you are really good

Not addressing WR depth and our IOL being two “we hope they’re good” guys and then Ford/Quessenberry/Mancz being the healthy depth has probably skewed my initial reaction of a guy I’ve never heard of.

His tape is pretty filthy.  Beane wanted to get faster on defense and this linebacker is decisive, explosive and fast.

What we do with him.. no idea.  But his tape is intriguing.

Yeah, in terms of “needs” I’m un-enthused so far.  But we’ll see.

He never made a visit or talked with the Bills as far as we know, right? It’s interesting they’d choose him over some players who did meet with the team. I’ll reserve judgment on if they could’ve got him at the end of round 5, but I would’ve rolled the dice with a couple of the other prospects first. Hopefully this is a Terrence McGee level steal, haven’t had one of those in quite some time.

I believe BBB knows a bit more about football than myself.  I'll say he's a good pick, until proven otherwise.

Honestly.  Gotta stop freaking out about a backup.  5 years ago up to the 4th round, and sometimes the 5th round, we needed to hit on every player.  Not anymore.

It’s more of a case of was he the best choice? Doesn’t feel like it.
