Pats' fans melting down over 1st rd pick, Video of McVay laughing at the pick... Brutal!

So Belichick creates holes by trading one guard and letting the other walk then drafts a guy he could have gotten in round 3 in the first round?

When his defense hasn't forced a punt in over two games versus the Bills and the only close game of the last 4 was a game he was aided by 70 mph winds??

How has he not been fired as GM yet? Especially with his abysmal draft record the past several years.

Bill belichick's defensive game plan shut down the bills kgun in the Bills Giants SB ... It's literally in the HoF

he's been a defensive guru for 30 plus years and has won super bowls with great defensive performances

His ability to adapt his scheme across multiple eras ... Running multiple fronts and confusing top quarterbacks for 30 years is a tremendous legacy

And he just took the Patriots to the playoffs with a terrible rag arm quarterback...

He just can't stop Josh Allen : )

And yes he isn't the greatest GM.. but his defensive coaching abilities are unquestioned

Careful, you could choke on that bone…,

I think Cole Strange is going to be pretty good and wanted the Bills to draft him in the 3rd round. Does it look like a reach? Yes, but there’s a good chance he wasn’t going to be there for the Pats 2nd round pick, and definitely not their 3rd.

It was a huge reach regardless.  People here are getting their panties in a twist over trading a 4th rounder fcol.

I would not argue against Belichick’s defensive genius.  That’s inarguably who he is.  That’s not his issue.  Overall team success takes the right blend of greatness.  Belichick is known for running his team in a tough, grueling and absolutely no fun allowed way.  That’s great when your QB is Tom Brady.  Players will accept that and take less money for a great chance at a ring (or rings).  But without Brady, wins in the teens every season and any real chance at a SB, that pipeline of players looking to play for him on below market contracts dries up fast.   Suddenly he’s in a very bad spot that he can’t coach himself out of with Xs and Os.

Agreed. I'd add that Brady doesn't win all of those superbowls without belichick's defense backing him up.

(Not saying Brady wouldn't have won any)

The Patriots WR room is like a list of WR3s from 2018. I agree that Bill is a first ballot HOFer and one of the greatest minds in NFL history. I just don't think even that can win with Cole Strange, Jakobi Myers, and 58 year old James White.

James White turns 59 in August.

The Pat's message board is self destructing right now over Bill drafting Cole Strange, an offensive guard, with their 1st round pick.  There is a video link of Sean McVay watching the pick live while he is being interviewed and then absolutely nuking the pick.  McVay starts laughing out loud and says they wasted a lot of time looking at Strange thinking he'd be there at pick 104.  It's rare to see an NFL coach bomb another coach

One of the best comments directed towards Bill from the thread was;   "Your defense didn’t force a got damn punt the last two games vs Buffalo, moron."

It's so nice to see the worst fanbase in the NFL getting what they deserve.  😃

I'm sure it was a spur of the moment thing and his emotions got the best of him.  Likely he'll regret what he said and did solely for the reason of coaches rarely dump on other coaches.  Thought I recalled them two getting along pretty well too?

No, he had a game plan that worked for them that game. Impressive, indeed.

Bully for him.  Then had the perfect offensive game dropped on his defense a few weeks later.

Good luck with wind doing that for him again...

The Patriots have had a higher success rate drafting offensive lineman than any other position (they can't draft a good wr to save their lives).  Their staff will probably turn him into a pro-bowler by his third season.

That may also have been due to having that legendary O line coach who retired about 2 years ago, can't recall the name.
