Beane should kick the tires on Stephon Gilmore

Beane never likes to go into a draft with a whole in the roster.  Our CB position is the last glaring need in our roster.  Levi is gone and there's a good chance Tre won't be finished rehabing his knee before the start of the season.  The available free agent CBs are getting pretty thin;  Gilmore, Joe Hayden, Kyle Fuller, Patrick Peterson, Xavier Rhodes, Tavon Young, Chris Harris, Janoris Jenkins are still out there.

Of all those guys I think Gilmore has the most juice left.  He is coming off that big contract with the Pats that was paying him $10+ million a year and then signed with the Panthers last year for just $7 million.  I'm sure he is looking for another big multi-year deal but he may not get one.  If he doesn't, he might be willing to bite on a one year prove it deal in Buffalo and then look to cash in next year.

Buffalo would be an ideal spot for a one year prove it deal.  He would likely be playing on a team with a lead in the 4th quarter with opposing QBs pressing to score some points.  He would also likely be lined up on the opponent's WR2 when Tre gets back.  That sounds like a great situation to start stacking some interceptions.

I know a lot of people here don't like Gilmore because of how he left Buffalo, but that was with the old regime, and honestly, the old regime was a dumpster fire and I don't blame him for wanting to go to a real franchise.  If Beane can swing a one year deal on Gilmore I think that would put us over the top.  A secondary of Tre, Gilmore, Poyer, Hyde, and Taron Johnson would be scary.

A one year $8-10 million fully guaranteed contract and a chance at a Super Bowl just might just get it done.

Ingo, forget it. I don't think he wanted to play in Buffalo when he got drafted. The body language at that time pretty much showed it. I think

he already planned to just play in Buffalo until his initial contract period was over & sign with a contending play off team and get out of Buffalo.

Just my opinion.

No thanks. And that's exactly what Gilmore would say too. He has no interest in returning to Buffalo.

Copy that!!!

I get it but unless he's willing to play for a vet minimum contract no thanks ! Diggs & company schooled him last season had him turned around every which way i would think they can find a good CB in the draft for less cash they say there are some good one this year .

You guys may be right.

But looking at his last four seasons he hasn't been making as much money as I expected he would.  According to Over the Cap he has made 9, 10, 14, and 7 million dollars over the last four seasons. When you look at those numbers a fully guaranteed $10 million isn't that unreasonable.

His NE contract was front loaded.  The reason he was let go there is he was whining that he was being underpaid.  He clearly believes he should be paid as an elite corner.  I am not sure he will get it, but I am sure he will go wherever the most money is.  That will not be Buffalo, even assuming they would want him back, which I doubt.

Cover skills aside, he never wanted to be here the first time.  Dude celebrated on social media in our faces the day he went to our most bitter rival.

For me, it goes all the way to draft night where he didn't even crack a smile at the podium as a top 10 draft pick in the NFL draft.

I just watched the draft night video again selecting Gilmore. You're right. Walking to the electric chair expression came to mind.

That post just gave me the chills like when Dairy Queen's Blizzards used to be good and I did not need to worry about my diet.

Gilmore is so opposite what the team is about other than aiming for a Superbowl ring,

I feel like it's gonna be Steven Nelson. We've had prior interest. He will hopefully come cheap

I agree - he's a very good zone corner and I believe and upgrade from Wallace.  In saying that, I trust beane and any of Nelson, Peterson, Gilmore, Rhodes or even Seymour would do

I like the idea and he would excel in McDermott system but would that be something there left side of the line played next to each other in last season’s pro bowl now you have the two starting corners in last years pro bowl.
