How much did you pay for gas and groceries today?

We go through this every year.  It’s either the switch to a winter/summer blend or in this case for routine refinery maintenance. I’ll have to do some research and see if the prices ever drop after these “routine maintenances”.  I do remember and will never forget these.

He never did report his findings.  Quite strange.  His silence is VERY telling.  Speaking of telling I have a feeling someone was telling him “cut it out!!!”

Maybe third time’s the charm?  🙄

Well i have been paying less for gas lately but that's because of the band aid Biden has used to stop the bleeding just before the mid terms to make them look better .

He allows the strategic reserve to be used to bring the price nationally down a little but more than likely is not replacing what is being used so it puts the country at a disadvantage economically if something really bad should happen !

But all of his devoted followers think he is all that & a bag of chips while they continue to blame all of this stuff on Trump their imaginary utopia is all part of a pipe dream just pushing so hard on all the things this wing nut in office wants to do will do nothing but make things worse but he can't or won't see it .

There definitely needs to be some changes into the way the US uses energy but there needs to be more common sense put into the thought of how to get there in a way that it won't cost the people more money & grief in the long run but the bottom line is they just don't care !!

WaPo: The Democrat narrative on gas prices will return to "presidents don't control" ... again

6a9c6ec3-b5a8-430d-a7a9-0497e4ef73ce-860

Really?

Biden didn’t make that very clear while taking credit for the pump-price descent over the last three months. The White House and Democrats looooved to point to the fall in prices as evidence that Biden’s economic policy was working. As early as mid-July, Biden was taking credit for those changes, tying it specifically to his short-term releases from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and supposed increases in US production.

Suddenly, as the entirely predictable impact of market forces and production limits have their effect, Biden and the White House want to throw their hands up … again:

Want to know why gas prices will soar again? That’s why.

We have a completely irresponsible approach to energy policy, dictated by fantasies of technologies that have not proven reliable and a complete refusal to address the actual needs of the nation. It’s sheer idiocy.

The American people aren’t idiots, however. No matter how much Democrats try to dodge responsibility for these soon-to-skyrocket-again gas prices, voters will remember that we didn’t have these issues in the four years before Biden and his team of incompetents took charge.

HE’S FLAILING:

Joe Biden Plans to Tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve Yet Again.

Biden plans to release 10 million barrels from the reserve.”

That will cover five days of OPEC’s output reduction.

Sure hope we don't find ourselves in a war with oil rich Russia who is in OPEC+ while having no oil reserves.

Biden is either the biggest fool, or is brilliantly succeeding in destroying the power of the USA.  Maybe both?

Good God.

The price of oil diminished because the expectation is for a recession in Europe, and perhaps the US.

You know---less demand.

Claiming that Biden did it with the release of the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve is the stuff of idiots.

america has done all of our saudi Arabian masters bidding imcluding genocide in yemen. yet they still pull back oil production at their convenience. is there some reason we dont just turn our military on them that im missing? we had to save them from iraq military that we destroyed in a matter of weeks until it hit a gorilla war tactics. not really sure why our imperialism that is more then happy to be used on other nations hasnt decided this is a one  directional "ally" is immune from the US wrath?

That's a good question.  For starters, I don't think the people running the Empire are concerned about how much you or I have to pay for anything unless it threatens their power.  And the Saudi's regardless of production levels still adhere to the petrodollar system established under Nixon.  Because of this they recycle a lot of US dollars into Treasuries and help fund all the deficit spending while keeping rates fairly low.  If the US made a move to end the protection racket I expect China and/or Russia would swoop in and assume that role.

The other thing is that military power has its limits and is only one aspect of the Empire's control.  The bigger one is financial.  Specifically, the US dollar's status as reserve and trade settlement currency.  Which facilitates control over the value of money.  Control the value of money and you control the price of everything.  This has helped plunder third world resource rich countries of their assets while keeping prices "cheap" in dollar terms.
