Should some of the gambling revenues help build/renovate stadiums and arenas?

Yeah not really sure anyone said to sign the Draft Kings tax checks over to the cement company.

The point being that the argument that the state or it's citizens don't significantly benefit financially from sports arena's kinda' goes out the window when legalized sports gambling starts bringing in billions per year for the state.   And yeah,  it will be billions annually within the next few.    This is

That will take a long while.  Between June 2018 and January 2022, all 50 states betting revenue combined was 946 million on 100 billion total betting money handled.

Sure the new laws allowing online in NY, NJ will give that a huge bump, but NY cumulative amount until this month since 2018 was 4.2 million, NJ 211 million.

70 million over the 1st month is heavily wind-aided by the NFL playoffs and SB.  Now they hit the doldrums, where the only big event until maybe June is the March Madness.

It won't happen because NY Jiants/Jest sport fans would want money to go to their stadium and no way is that politically politically palatable.

It won't happen because the Giants/Jets stadium was privately funded.

I want the state to take some of the profits the gambling sites are giving to the state & use some of the state's gambling profits to go to the stadium instead of raising anyone's taxes.

No, that money goes to the guys and girls standing on the side of the highway with construction gear holding a stop/slow sign and turning it every now and then.

WE can start a 'Go Fund Me' page, to buy you a one way ticket, to Nunavut.

A GoFundme page for a new Bills stadium is a good idea though.  Allow the hardworking people that want to, contribute to the billionaires stadium that the millionaires play 8 regular season games in a year. I wonder how embarrassed the Pegulas would be to have a GoFundMe page setup for them.

This fact seems to  elude far too many people. They all should be funded that way IMO.

Every taxpayer pays for stuff that they don't care about & will never use.

In the real world, not some fantasy world, teams move if the government doesn't kick in some of the stadium costs because there will always be somewhere else where the politicians will pay to get a team to move there.

Now there may be exceptions in rare cases, but even the biggest cities have experienced franchise relocations.  The Giants & Jets moved to a different state even within the same metropolitan area & the Bears are threatening to move out of the city of Chicago to the 'burbs.

The Giants and Jets did the right thing and got their stadium without government funding I believe.  Blackmail does seem to run rampant in the NFL, I agree.  And politicians in fear for their jobs don't want to be blamed for teams relocating out of a city so in many cases it works.

The difference is the Giants & Jets could have only threatened to move back to NYC.  They really couldn't come up with much of a threat like the Bills can.  The fan base doesn't change just by crossing the Hudson.  If the Bills move the fans are abandoned.

Plus, it took 2 teams sharing a stadium to fund it and they can charge a lot more for PSLs than most other franchises.

It probably should. NY state will surely have something to waste it on though.

Very lazy comment. Surely police, fire depts, schools, infrastructure, etc, are all a waste. Time has come to end this broad brush smear of everything. As to diverting the gambling revenues to pay for the venues is sound, there are a lot of community associated costs as well that should be funded as well from the revenue.

I keep hearing this nonsense.  8 days a year in general you are talking about. Maybe a few concerts if it was domed.  "fuels the economy", for gods sake.

multiply that times 3 and then look up the amount that generates a day based on over 70,000 people are in the seats alone.

tired of the ultra wealthy needing "help" so they can save money and make more.   i understand the leverage NFL owners have over their areas,  but cmon,  this has to stop.    the wealthy in this country hate socialism yet take that free money whenever and wherever they can.    tired.

we are a unique situation being a small market team, still shouldnt have to "donate" a dime to keep the team here.    all we should have to do is support the product by watching,  going,  and buying merchandise.   the rest should be on the owners,  just like the other 98% of business in this country.

also,  not a big fan of the explosion of legalized gambling lately.   i dont partake so i guess it really doesnt affect me all that much, but it does affect society negatively overall.   that being said,  no,  the gambling business' should not pitch in towards another business owners need for free money,  neither should the state.   that gambling money should be put towards all the real problems that need correcting,  not towards an organization that just needs to make more $$$$ by cutting their own costs.

what happened to pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps,  or free market,  or  all the other bs slogans we've been fed for years by our corporate "leaders" ?.     what they really mean is,  shut up,  give us money,  u do the work,  while they profit,  and wait for them to trickle a little $$$$ down to u.

what an intelligent response.   im a conservative mind u.

Forgive me, but I’m exhausted from this sort of rhetoric. Everyone is the same: rich, middle and lower class. Nobody wants to spend more of their own money than they have to. That’s not extraordinary or evil..it’s just normal! If it bugs people to pay for a stadium then don’t! If you don’t want to pay higher ticket prices…don’t!

want nothing more than for u to rethink your snark response.  beyond that im done with u

My responses aren’t intended to be snark. They’re simply the reality of the current structure of things. I’ve said it many many times on here that I find it hard to believe that people who I assume are Bills fans wouldn’t want to spread the cost of the stadium out across as many people as possible, because if not you better get ready to pay a boatload for each and every ticket.  You can continue to scream into the darkness if you’d like. Thanks
