Are you losing interest in the NFL ?

I wrote this long thread naming over 30 reasons why I am losing interest in the NFL but I deleted the entire non coherent mess because the issues are all to obvious.

Should we find out that an NFL owner truly attempted to pay a coach to lose then all credibility is lost. IMO

Are you losing interest and what are your issues with the NFL ?

  • HOUSE changed the title to Are you losing interest in the NFL ?

I get the "gist " of your concern. My only problem, like most , is the officiating.. wont go deep in the weeds, but the officiating in the  Tampa and Titan's game this year seemed to cost the Bills . Every team can say the same. Is the answer full-time officials? i am not sure. Wish there was a way to get a more perfect system.,,.

im still a die hard bills fan, but outside of the bills (and like the odd playoff game, but that's even slipping) i don't care too much.  3 hours a week to watch the bills is all i like to spend watching.  i browse this board, but that's cuz im at my desk at work.

No,  it's the opposite.  I have lost much of my interest in NHL, MLB, NCAA Hoops....zero interest in NBA.

So basically my interest in the NFL is at an all time high and I'm bummed out that we basically have 6 months of nothing.

I only watch to see if the Bills can stick it to the establishment.   Why I was rooting for Bengals. Cincy is one the League's golden teams.  Normally, I hate Cincy because of the AFC rivalry. Yet... They are closer to Bills.  Wasn't it Wilson and Brown the only two dissenters w/the CBA years ago?

Yet... The establishment still won...

Yes.  I had zero interest in the SB this year.  I am starting to get the feeling the league has really become corrupt at a systemic level. The NFL is now a reflection of mega capitalism and our world in general.   And according to the media and a lot of narratives, if you are against billionaires manipulating reality then you are against a free market or even a socialist.  Oddly enough about half the people I talk to about the NFL are realizing it has gotten quite obvious.  I will still watch every Bills moment even while having doubts the league will ever let them win it all.  I could be completely overboard here but the product has really soured my perception.

nope not at alll, the Bills fortunes drive my interest, its an up cycle for us long-suffering fans, so the the negativity is muted based on the current fun and happiness this team currently brings...the playoffs were the best except for 13 seconds, which is a whole other story

and I can totally respect this type of take as well.

It's a very valid questions and I would have been curious what those 30 reasons were.

For me it's a double edged sword. I love the game of football. I love the history of the NFL. I have suffered through for so long for Buffalo to field a great team with a centerpiece like Josh Allen that there is no chance I can stop watching now.

However, yes...it's getting harder to watch a game owned by billionaires that seem above the law. Seeing the game being priced out of a traditional middle class family budget. In no other sport is the Championship game aimed at people who don't really even follow the sport. And I won't even discuss the officiating.

Even shows about the NFL have less and less to do with football and seem more like the nightly news. Domestic Violence, COVID, fatal DWI/manslaughter...list goes on and on. Remeber when football was an escape for a few hours from the real world issues?

I watch the Bills now. I pay attention to the other games but no longer "need" to see the late Sunday, Monday or Thursday games that don't involve Buffalo. Maybe it's the above mentioned stuff or maybe it may age my own priority list has changed...but football isn't as important as it used to be.
