For all of you enamored with speed - remember Marquise Goodwin

How was Tyreek Hill a 5th round pick?

Probably because he didn't peak in college. Guys that peak are who draft pundits drool over. NFL personnel departments look for players that have potential.

Here's another example. N'Keal Harry was a 1st rd pick while Gabriel Davis went in the 4th.

Speed alone does not get it done. Marquise Goodwin had one of the NFL’s fastest 40 times but his durability was questionable during his Buffalo Bills time. As Beane said in his press conference, “track stars are not necessarily football players.”

Tyreek Hill is a matchup challenge but it is not due to speed alone.

Also remember that the Bills have Marquez Stevens 100 percentile three cone drill on the roster. He does not have the 40 of Tyreek  but he has speed and shiftiness that is combined considered other worldly.

You have to wonder if the Bills have on their roster already or will identify a matchup nightmare in this year’s draft.

Goodwin was never really good in college either. Speed plus production is worth a flyer.

Point taken, but I’ll echo that even Goodwin has made a decent NFL career w/ his skill set.

Was gonna say, I'd take peak Goodwin for a year with Josh Allen. I remember him having some good games in San Francisco but honestly had no idea he was only 40 yards short of a 1,000 yard season until a minute ago.

Don't think anyone is advocating for speed alone. In fact the WR group probably needs that 6'4" monster more so than they need more speed.

Ya there's plenty of track stars out there, we need football speed. If Mckenzie leaves then I think we need speed at wr, but I think there's no question we could use speed out of our backfield. It blows my mind we don't have a great screen game with a qb like Allen. A change of pace guy with speed that can burn a defense if he gets a swing pass in space would add a huge element to Allen's arsenal.

Yeah, they have Stevenson.  Develop him and still get more players with that speed trait.

Wasn't Goodwin really good in San Fran?  That being said, speed doesn’t always make a player good.

The current roster only has one player, McKenzie, that is ANY threat to outrun or take it to the house. While the WR group is strong YAC are low. Some of it could be due to the lack of crossing patterns the Bills ran this year. However, speed at RB and WR is lacking. Lastly, we finally have a QB that can throw the ball. We could “use” an infusion of speed on offense however, scoring hasn’t been our issue.  We NEED a difference maker at DE, an impactful LB and another top CB.  Offense needs a stronger IOL and a running back that is a better runner than our QB.

IMO, I want Beane to be aggressive this offseason and get some difference makers. Make some deals, trade for some proven talent or FA’s and then supplement remaining lower needs in the draft. This is a huge offseason for the Bills if they want to hoist a SB trophy.  Please don’t stand idle.

Not true, 40 times for the Bills WR’s / TE’s:

  • Emmanuel Sanders 4.41
  • Isaiah McKenzie - 4.42
  • Marquez Stevenson - 4.45
  • Stephon Diggs - 4.46
  • Cole Beasley 4.49
  • Gabriel Davis - 4.54
  • Dawson Knox 4.59
  • Isaiah Hodgkins - 4.61

Granted, Sanders has likely lost some of the top end speed - Diggs is only marginally slower than McKenzie - and is known to be able to take the top end off of D’s
