For all of you enamored with speed - remember Marquise Goodwin

Speed alone does not get it done. Marquise Goodwin had one of the NFL’s fastest 40 times but his durability was questionable during his Buffalo Bills time. As Beane said in his press conference, “track stars are not necessarily football players.”

Tyreek Hill is a matchup challenge but it is not due to speed alone.

Also remember that the Bills have Marquez Stevens 100 percentile three cone drill on the roster. He does not have the 40 of Tyreek  but he has speed and shiftiness that is combined considered other worldly.

You have to wonder if the Bills have on their roster already or will identify a matchup nightmare in this year’s draft.

Stevenson's 3-cone # is amazing. I look forward to watching him become a player.

Stevenson certainly didn’t look 6.46 three cone quick on the field. Hopefully he puts in a lot of work this off-season with direction from the coaches for how to become a better receiver. We need his speed on the field.

He looked absolutely blazing in college at WR.

Goodwin is still in the league. In a reserve role with the Bears, he's still averaging 16 ypr (20 receptions this season).

How was Tyreek Hill a 5th round pick?

The same reason AB was a sixth round pick. Character questions. The concerns for both were valid.

Thats exactly where Beane's statement regarding them needing to be good football players first comes in.  Tyreek Hill is in a different class when it comes to being a speedy player, because he runs that fast and is about 20 pounds heavier than guys like Mckenzie, and actually has good hands, which Goodwin could never say.

I dont think going and getting Cornerbacks who run 4.3 40s is going to help the situation.  Bottom line is the Bills need to outscore the Chiefs with their offense or they probably will never get past them.

Who said we are looking for speed alone?

Of course you have to be a good football player first.

By the way, I always get a kick out of the fact that Tyreek Hill, who is as dangerous an offensive weapon as you could ever hope to find, was taken in the 5th round by KC, 165th overall.

Everyone in the league could have had him several times over and passed--

And yet fans continue to talk about "take the best man available" in the draft, as though that has any meaning, or that teams actually know who the best man available is.

It was Doug Whaley at the time of course, but the Bills took, over Tyreek Hill:

Shaq Lawson

Reggie Ragland

Adolphus Washington

Cardale Jones

Jonathan Williams (don't even remember him; RB from Arkansas)

 😲

🤷‍♂️

😭

Hill had strangulation charges and was kicked out of Oklahoma State. There's a reason why teams shied away from him.

I'd love us to get a speedy RB somewhere in the draft who is capable of taking it to the house once he hits a hole. Singletary can be shifty but defenses know they don't have to fear speed with the guy

It's crazy a player like Elijah Mitchell was there until the 6th round. Blazing speed.

Listening to OBL, Chris Brown was pissing me and Steve Tasker off with the speed nonsense. Every fast player can’t play football. Like every tall person can’t play basketball

Speed with production. It's hard to know how any player will translate to the NFL. I can see the Bills taking the speed guy if grades are close.
