Glow forge and photography suggestions

Recently started getting back into the photography game.  Doing family pictures, nature, and the like some businesses and city scapes.  It feels rewarding and my Mum-in-law has a glow forge which she is using for engraving some of the family shots I've taken.  Cropping, exporting, and preparing images.  What software do folks use like GIMP, Inkscape, and the like of free and open source cathedral and bazar.

I think that is AWESOME. Way back in the 80’s I was into photography. I got a new camera a few years back, but realized the whole thing was more about the computer than the camera and lost some interest.

We went to Spain with friends just before the pandemic. We were with a friend who had an iPhone a couple versions ahead of ours and were SHOCKED by how much better her pics were. I can’t see traveling with my big Canon anymore with phone pics having that level of quality. I totally understand that there is a VERY different level of photography, but the every day pic is pretty good.

On a related note, watching a football game at home has become a pretty good experience too!

Per what muppy said if you look on meetup.com you might be able to find a photography club near where you live if it interests you.

I was one once for a few weeks but life got crazy for me.  Idk if they still even meet up with the pandemic
