it's ridiculous when your team is losing.  I'm fine with it if it's a big play and your winning, or it's a tide-turning play in a game- but what the heck are you celebrating if your getting crushed.  Still a team game.

My only complaint is that this celebration is way more annoying than all of the ones they have banned.  Stupid NFL.

I’m leaning more in the other direction.
 

The NFL is at the end of the day in the business of not just football but entertainment. Let them do backflips and point and glare at whoever so long as they aren’t hurting anyone. Build up rivalries. I do kind of miss waiting for things like a hidden sharpie or other creative, well-thought out celebrations. These guys give their bodies to make crazy plays, so why not let them celebrate to the max?

 

I will say while I hold the above view that I think if the NFL did allow more extreme celebrations it would make those who do act like they’ve been there 100x before look even cooler.

That's my problem with it...Saints did it last week when they were losing by 10 points.

i will say that it doesn’t really jive with their new emphasis against taunting. 
 

i can’t think of a more blatant form of taunting than having your entire team

run Up and Down the field, and then proceed to do a choreographed celebration. 
 

But I guess so long as they are diverting their direct gaze from the opponent players, it’s okay?! 🤔

One the one hand you have to be very very careful not to " taunt" but at the same time half the team can run down to some TV camera or end zone and break out in an over the top celebrations.

lol I don't mind a "Fun Police" thread. That's his opinion and I respect it. But I wouldn't be a fan of a "No Fun League" either...Act like you've been there is one way to look at it as a player...but a bit of showboating? Yeah I like it. Its a business but for them it can be a fun business too. express themselves after success Im a fan.

That's the distinction. An end-zone celebration says to the crowd, "Look what I did!" A taunt says to the opposing player, "YOU got torched."

 

Taunts tend to provoke punches or shoves, and that's what they're trying to avoid with the taunting calls.

whats funny about that is the rationale by the coaches and competition committee is that they want to be good role models and teach kids how to act. These fine distinctions between taunting directed at an opponent and over the top celebrations don’t really accomplish that. In fact, at away games, aren’t these celebrations basically just taunting the crowd— not something that should be modeled to kids.

My response to that would be “OK then penalize the punches and shoves more severely”.
 

I’d rather see a guy sit a month for throwing a punch than a game turn because a guy makes a play and gets a penalty after he glares at a sideline.

Fines to most NFL players are so small they are immaterial, it wont stop fights erupting IMO.  Throwing a flag is a serious deterrent, that hurts your team and players would be more careful,
