Bills need a retractable roof stadium for this team as it's constructed. Open air for the most part and domed when necessary. Build it and watch this city get a SB and be a destination.

I think every team should have a retractable roof and the league should pay for it. It's to the benefit of everyone.

Quick summary of the video if this hasn't been posted already:

Worst weather cites:

weather.jpg

1. Buffalo

2. Green Bay

3. Cleveland

4. Miami

5. Pittsburgh

Based on 5 weather factors gathered from the National Weather Service 1991-2020:

heat, precipitation, snow, cold, wind

Only outdoors stadiums were considered (20 in all), not domes or those with retractable roofs.

No,  according to the conditions given in the video. No dome or retractable roofs allowed.

I was glad to see Miami on the list. Going to a game there before Halloween could kill you. I love the heat, but I’ve been to games in Tampa and Jacksonville that were absolutely unbearable!  The seats emptied and people watched on monitors in the concourses to get out of the sun. I’ve turned down free tickets early in the season in Florida.

On a side note, I think @Gugny should be sent to the Miami home opener for stirring the dome pot. That guy is a regular rabble rouser!

We could get a stadium twice as big, nice, and expensive as SO-FI out in LA (the jewel of them all IMO) and there would still be no chance in hell of the Super Bowl coming to WNY.

Don't be so sure. Minneapolis got one and Western NY could draw from Canada,Cleveland, NYC, as well as fans from both teams.

Need to put a dome over the whole city to get a Super Bowl.

Anyone who has been at The Rich, The Ralph, etc etc , with Bills vs Dolphins, and been at the tunnel end of the stadium, and for 20 minutes watched a white wall closing in from "The Lake", reaching ECC, JK Blvd, the score board, the endzone seats, saw Jim K take off his coat and begin waving it around, the cheers getting louder and louder,  KNOWS , Buffalo weather is like a good friend. It provides some of the greatest moments in your life but occasionally you need a break.

Cheers to Buffalo weather for being a good friend.

Don't you think there might be some fancy Hotels/ Casino/Shopping that gets built near a new stadium?

Nope, but even if that happened, is that a draw for people to want to be here for a Super Bowl?  I work at high end golf club in Scottsdale, we are already planning for the Super Bowl here in 2023.  This is the type of thing people want to do when they travel, not go shopping.

I have to say, this seems so over-played.

In December and January, MOST of this country is cold and crappy.  I'm not sure it's any worse in Orchard Park, especially if there is no storm at the moment.

Also: parts of this country (Green Bay, Chicago, Minneapolis) are FREAKING COLD in the winter time...they routinely get much colder air than Buffalo does, thanks to the lake.

On a non-storm kind of day, I'd rather be in Buffalo than Green Bay or Chicago, with minus 3 outside air temps.

It just doesn't get that cold in WNY typically.

You have to factor in the winds off the lake along with the heavy snow.

I'd like to see the weather played up.  Example, MNF will probably show some typical shots of Niagara Falls, downtown, etc.

That's all well-and good, but how about sending a film crew out to Holiday Valley, instead ...
show downhill skiers, chair lifts, hot chocolate around a fire, etc ... make the Buffalo region out to be a winter wonderland instead of the frozen tundra.
Marketing, dammit !!

People like to party, gamble and eat good food. Who says Buffalo can't provide that. Possibly even gambling on the  menu.
